Spreading some holiday cheer and the ingredients for together time in this week's S2S project bag!! S2S students decorated cookies, popped popcorn and made hot ...cocoa in their new S2S mugs as we joined on Zoom to watch the inspiring documentary "Dance Dreams: Hot Chocolate Nutcracker." Inspired by the infamous Debbie Allen, who is teaching dance to youth no matter their socioeconomic status. Some students sent pictures of their decorated cookies, before they took a bite!

Good Morning, Rochester. As always, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for the unyielding sacrifices of our essential workers and first responders. Unfortunately, ...our numbers are rising substantially, so it is now more critical than ever that we stay the course, submit to the state-mandated guidelines, and continue adhering to our medical professionals' advice and guidance. I am still proud to have witnessed first-hand many of our facilities and businesses adhering to the appropriate guidelines by practicing social distancing, the proper wearing of masks, and proper sanitizing practices. Let's stay diligent. Remember to wear your masks over both your nose and mouth, forgo all gatherings, and stay home as much as possible. We can and will rebuild and restore our city through these challenging times. We are resilient and we are in this together! Mask Up and Protect Your Circle! Everyone's life depends on it. Lovely

Good afternoon ABC Staff. It would be the understatement of the century to say that there’s a lot going on. There’s always a lot going on in the fight for freedom, justice and equity for all. That’s our world. Today, I have to pause and tell each and every one of you who work for Action for a Better Community one simple thing. THANKS! All of you are the engine that makes things go at ABC. Over the past 6-7 months many of you have had to do things that you’ve never done, ...not only here at work but for your families too. I need to let you know that you’re doing a good job. Rochester & Monroe County needs us now more than ever. Stay encouraged. Stay inspired. Stay motivated. You’re doing a good job!!! Check out the video below by Alicia Keys. I can’t sing so I figure let me get her to do it for me. I appreciate you ABC Staff. Know that! Jerome Underwood https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwL5AOFCqiw

Action for a Better Community extends its sincerest condolences to the family of Daniel Prude on the loss of their loved one. Mr. Prude’s death is a tragedy in every sense of the word. We offer our support and are praying for the family during this time of unimaginable loss. We understand that there are multiple investigations underway, but we are deeply troubled by the length of time that passed before the circumstances of Mr. Prude’s death were made public. We call upon our... elected officials and their appointees to provide the community with a thorough explanation of how and why this happened. We urge the investigations be completed as quickly as possible so that all of the facts can be known by the family and the community. From what has already been seen and heard, there is ample evidence to conclude that what happened to Mr. Prude reflects yet another systemic failure of mental health care and policing. These are failures we’ve seen far too many times in this country and they have deadly consequences at a disproportionate rate for people of color. Racism has once again proven to be a public health crisis! We demand full accountability for those whose actions, in any way, contributed to the death of Mr. Prude or prevented the public from learning about the facts in this case in a timely fashion. Mr. Prude’s family and the Rochester community deserve a thorough explanation not only of how and why this happened, but what steps are being taken to prevent another family from facing a similar tragedy. Healing requires justice. Healing also requires change. Additionally, ABC expresses its support for the protesters who have peacefully demonstrated about the death of Daniel Prude and others around the country who have died under similar circumstances. We encourage protesters to remain peaceful and calm, and we implore law enforcement to not use any type of force or intimidation tactics to deter these individuals from their right to peacefully assemble and call for justice for Mr. Prude.
