S2S did a fun project to show who we are behind our masks. This lesson talked both about physical masks, like the ones we are so used to wearing now, and the invisible ones we sometimes put on to hide our feelings. This picture is from San'Yia! Take time to get to know a youth, beyond their mask!

This pandemic feels like it’s been going on for a looong time, and it has affected all of us in different ways. We want youth to tell us their stories about the impact that this pandemic has had on their lives, the good, the bad, and the ugly. They can use any art form, from spoken word, to painting, to dance, to film and everything in between. The art will be shared on our PROWD Instagram page and the Youth Services Facebook page, so let us know on the submission form if you... would like your name to be shared or if you want to stay anonymous. This is open to ALL youth. They do not have to be part of the PROWD program to participate. Art projects can be submitted as a photo, video, or document here: tinyurl.com/59qme2ta Submissions are due 23 February 2021 at 5pm. Contact Najua Baaith-Mercado if you have any questions or concerns Email: [email protected] Office phone: 585-325-5116 ext. 3500 Cell phone: 585-353-5864

Spreading some holiday cheer and the ingredients for together time in this week's S2S project bag!! S2S students decorated cookies, popped popcorn and made hot cocoa in their new S2S mugs as we joined on Zoom to watch the inspiring documentary "Dance Dreams: Hot Chocolate Nutcracker." Inspired by the infamous Debbie Allen, who is teaching dance to youth no matter their socioeconomic status. Some students sent pictures of their decorated cookies, before they took a bite!

A few of our S2S "Change Clouds" . Moving schools, moving homes and changing up interests are some of the changes our students have experienced. We had fun trying to interpret each other's cloud and learned about how change affects us in the moment and beyond.

Out delivering project supplies to our S2S students who are learning remotely this week! Our activity today was called "The change cloud". We have all gone through a lot of change lately but more importantly change is inevitable in our lives. Think of change like a cloud. Some clouds are big, fluffy, happy clouds and move slow, some linger and are grey and stormy, some move swiftly and are gone as quickly as they came. This can be a visual way to represent change. Some change happens fast and we are not expecting it, other change is expected and long lasting. The students are reflecting on a time of change in their lives and will be using the project bag to create their own change cloud!
