Magic is a pocket boroughbred and is just too adorable! She likes a gentle touch, soft voices, smooth moves and she will then be all yours. Magic is a pleasant walker, a good sitter and according to her former owner, would enjoy playing with balls and toys. Magic would love to be home again, a home that would understand her sensitive soul and make accommodations for it. Magic is a wonderful, sensitive, and sweet girl who loves belly rubs and gentle scratches behind her ears. Email [email protected] today! https://nycacc.app/browse/8191 #nycacc #boroughbred

#repost @boroughbredinbrooklyn On a recent afternoon, we spent some time getting to know a gray and white beauty named Deborah. She’s sweet as can be with us, playing happily with toys in the yard. She runs around carrying one, chases others that we toss, and snuffles them around the yard with her big head. Deborah is very affectionate, and props herself up against us. She’s ready to give us big Deborah-sized hugs, but content to get pets and attention. She wags and wags her ...tail, snorts adorably, and is just a delightful girl. At 67 lbs, Deborah could probably put on a few more pounds. She is young and energetic, and would benefit from a home that could spend time on some basic training. Given her size, she would do best in a home without very young kids, but the shelter feels she may be open to a home with older kids once she meets them. Understandably, Deborah has been finding the shelter environment a little overwhelming, so the ACC foster team is looking for a foster home for her. She’s also available for adoption of course! To make this girl yours, contact [email protected]. Deborah’s ID is #104059.

Flittle's Foster Writes: "This pretty apricot-colored pup is Flittle! Flittle is deaf but that doesn't mean she can't communicate. She knows sit and lie down with hand signs and is working on stay and come. Flittle is also not afraid to tell you what she wants. She makes funny little howls that usually mean "why are you all the way over there?" and "why is it taking you so long to get ready for my walk?". But even though she has a little bit of sass, her favorite thing is to ...cuddle up on the couch or to patrol the house by looking out the window. Flittle is great with new people and has been friendly with other dogs on walks. Flittle would do well in a home of someone who doesn't mind a dog squeezing in next to them on the couch. If that home is yours please contact the ACC." Email [email protected] if you are interested in Flittle! https://nycacc.app/browse/89437 #nycacc #boroughbred

Nahla is today's #HappyTail! "I just wanted to share with you an update and some of the photos of Nahla (formerly Cleopatra) who we adopted last year. During the year Nahla has learned to play and love fetch, swimming, and hanging out with her dog pals. We absolutely adore her and highly recommend adopting a boroughbred to all who are looking for a new four-legged family member." Make your own happy tail at http://nycacc.app... From our Brooklyn volunteers @boroughbredinbrooklyn: With his pointed ears, sleek body and bushy tail, Chiquito looks a little bit like a coyote! But one look into his sweet, sincere eyes and it’s easy to see that he’s just a shepherd mix dog who’s a little nervous in new situations. Chiquito’s previous family describes him as shy with new people, but told us that he warms up once he gets to know someone. When we walked Chiquito, he really enjoyed taking in all the sights an...d sounds, eagerly sniffing the sidewalk to catch up on all the doggie news. Keeping his boundaries in mind, the behavior staff has been working with 3-year-old Chiquito to make him feel more comfortable. Over the past month, he’s been making progress with meeting and trusting new people and has discovered a new love of tug toys. Now, he’s looking for a rescue that can place him in a foster home without kids where he can decompress, get some reward-based training and learn to be a dog. If you’re interested in helping this beautiful boy, you can find Chiquito on the @nycacc app https://nycacc.app/#/browse/103255 PS. Fun Fact: A coyote’s tail usually has a black tip. (And, no Chiquito’s does not! He’s a dog ).

From our volunteers at @boroughbredinbrooklyn: When you are young, handsome, and happy, what else could you need? Well, for 2-year-old Chrome, all he needs now is a home! Chrome walks nicely alongside me, wagging his tail the entire time we’re together. He loves to be pet and a few times his whole body shook in delight! While we are told this happy boy knows cues for sit, stay, and give paw, he hasn’t shown us his bag of tricks just yet. He was mostly content to wiggle around... for attention and rub himself up against us, which was more than enough for us! Chrome’s previous family describes him as friendly and playful. They said that he likes balls, squeaky toys, and anything bacon! He seems to have some skin allergies which may be food related. He is reported to be house trained, crate trained, and well behaved when left home alone. To make this dreamboat yours click here: https://nycacc.app/#/browse/104134

When we say ACC is the only animal welfare organization to #TakeThemAll we really mean it! Peppa was found in a Brooklyn back yard early this morning. We aren’t sure where she came from and we don’t want to make any assumptions, but it could be that Peppa grew too big for her family to keep. Or perhaps it was that they realized pigs are illegal to have as pets in NYC! Don’t worry, we found placement for Peppa. When it comes to having a pet, we recommend adopting a legal one from ACC!

A quick but very important thank you to all those who have donated toys to our care centers. The dogs and staff appreciate your generosity! From our resident unicorn himself, Sora (92732) sends his love

Shared from Manhattan volunteer@mishap212 There’s a lid for every pot. And a home for every stuck pup. On Friday I posted about the current Manhattan shelter population. Full of stuck pups, long-stay dogs with special needs in need of homes. And extra help to get there. I received an overwhelming amount of support, stories and real-world examples that life with a reactive dog, or an only-dog, was worth it. So today I present one of our most stuck pups, stuck for ne...arly the longest. Glory. 3 year-old Glory first came to us in July. She was shy and growly with new people. And she had a bitten a small dog that approached her in the home, not breaking skin. So will need to be the only pet and would also do best in a home without children. Now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about who Glory is. Glory is playful. Nearly 100 days inside a shelter, and this little moo cow is perfectly content so long as there’s a ball and room to run (or waddle). Speaking of, Glory is unspeakably cute. At a *very* compact 64 pounds, she is a piglet, a cow, and an ottoman (I say this with love) all mixed together. With a tail that’s always in motion and a smile you can’t resist. Glory’s now surrounded by friends. Which reminds me - Glory is loved. Though she’s been walkable only by staff for the duration of her stay, she is always, always, out and about. Lunch breaks are spent with her instead, 10 minutes turn into 20. And it is a testament to all that enrichment that Glory remains as content as she is. Still, Glory can only do so well in this environment. And over recent weeks I’ve found her looking increasingly sad in her kennel, floppy ears and downturned-eyes resting between two pink paws. Glory needs to go home. And though they all have, truly, Glory has, without question, earned it. Let’s not let 100 days go by without a prospect. Please help us reach homes w/o pets or children by sharing Glory or tagging someone unexpected in the comments. Because there is a lid for every pot. And a home for our sweetest moo. Glory needs to be pulled by a New Hope rescue partner - and there are several who are interested! They just need a foster or adopter - so if you are interested n being a foster or adopter please fill out pur pre-screener form that gets passed on to our New Hope partners! https://bit.ly/NewHopePreScreener https://nycacc.app/#/browse/98116

It’s hard to compete against a national treasure like Ryan Gosling. But if anyone can it’s Chavez! Chavez came to us because his owner developed allergies that were more pronounced since she has been working from home. She tried everything but couldn’t stop the sneeze. Chavez is three years old, completely housebroken, neutered and weighing in at about 12 pounds. He is affectionate as he is gorgeous - which is to say VERY CUDDLY. Make an appointment to come in to our Brookly...n shelter to meet this guy. He is sure to be scooped up soon! Also available to foster :) https://nycacc.app/browse/104485 #nycacc #boroughbred #ryangosling #whoworeitbetter

From our volunteers at @boroughbredinbrooklyn: If a unicorn ever did exist, it would be Sora. So a few weeks ago we put him in the costume of his people. And he transformed instantly into a magical, adorable unicorn. We have dressed Sora up a lot over the past months. You may remember his tutorial on getting ready for fall. He is endlessly tolerant of our antics, even letting us stuff his cropped ears into the costume’s ear holes. I literally can’t get enough of him trotting ...around the yard, unicorn toy in mouth, rainbow mane and horn atop his head, happily wagging and following us around. Sora is now Brooklyn’s longest current resident, arriving in Brooklyn over 150 days ago. 150 is a lot of days and nights in a kennel, frankly far too many. But a unicorn doesn’t let it get him down and beyond reason Sora hasn’t lost an ounce of his affectionate nature. Each and every time I walk past Sora’s kennel he looks up at me with his signature smile. He wags his whole backside and shows me one of his toys. When it’s his turn for a walk he is patient as I leash him, and he always brings his toy along for the ride. To call this boy endearing is a massive understatement. He literally melts me any time I merely glance in his direction. Sora needs an adult only home without other dogs. He is available for experienced ACC fosters, but otherwise will need the support of a rescue. To learn more about Sora and what he’s looking for, contact Brooklyn ACC. To help Sora, share his story so his unicorn family can find their special boy. https://www.nycacc.org/adopt/sora-92732

Roscoe is a bundle of spirited energy that could run and play for hours! He seeks a caretaker that can help him direct his energy into positive channels such as toys, treats, and positive learning activities. Roscoe would thrive with someone who can provide him the outlets he needs to succeed, being the high energy dog that he is. Additionally, a new caretaker should offer him the patience he needs to be comfortable in a new environment as well; Roscoe should be allowed to i...nitiate any and all interaction with people first. With time to bloom, Roscoe hopes he can succeed in his next endeavors. What my friends at ACC say about me: I am excitable and energetic! I will need positive outlets for my energy! Not only do I pull at heart strings, but I also pull on leash! I will need someone to help me with my leash manners. I am not one to sit still! I will flourish in a home with someone that will keep me mentally and physically active! I would do best in a home with only adult humans. I am looking for a home with a patient person. Email [email protected] if you are interested in Roscoe! https://nycacc.app/browse/92728 #nycacc #boroughbred
