Finalmente dopo il COVID ritorna NYCANTA

I am so sick and tired of these attacks against Columbus and our heritage. These attacks are riddled with a false narrative of a man who had to courage and fait...h to make a trip that many would be afraid to take. For those of you that are glad to hear the president declare October 12th as Columbus Day, read the proclamation in full, then tell me you are proud. In declaring our day as Columbus Day, he went on to attack Europeans for the genocide of the native population. At the same time, he declared October 12th as Indigenous Peoples Day. Of course, in that declaration, he praised them and neglected to tell the negatives of that population. Not caring that they already have two days and a month to honor their culture. I must ask where are our Italian American Elected officials? Why are they so silent on this slap in the face to or community? I am tired of these attacks. In Philadelphia, a judge ordered the box covering the statue of Columbus to be removed. Bigoted mayor Jim Kenny is still refusing to remove the box. He should be arrested and charged with contempt of court for this action. This is just one of the many Anti-Italian actions this bigot has taken. But we take this, and leave it up to a few of us to fight these battles. Where is our Italian American Community? Why do they sit at the sidelines and watch these attacks against our community? Yes, many of you press like on the post and that is it. When we call for a protest you're nowhere to found. We must stand united in this and every fight where Italian Americans and our culture are being attacked. I'm sorry, I know I am venting but we and our heritage is being attacked from all ends. We will celebrate proudly Columbus and his achievements to our great Country. John A. Fratta

First to sail on the Great Lakes in 1679, founder of the territory that became the State of Illinois, colonizer of Louisiana and Arkansas, I am Enrico Tonti. I am Filippo Mazzei friend of Thomas Jefferson, and my thesis on the equality of man was written into the Bill of Rights. I am William Paca, signer of the Declaration of Independence . I am an Italian-American; I financed the Northwest Expedition of George Rogers Clark and accompanied him through the lands that would become Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan. I am Colonel Francesco Vigo. I mapped the Pacific from Mexico to Alaska and to the Philippines; I am Alessandro Malaspina. I am Giacomo Belinimi, discoverer of the source of the Mississippi River in 1823. I created the Dome of the United States Capitol. They call me the Michelangelo of America. I am Constantino Brumidi. In 1904, I founded in San Francisco, the Bank of Italy now known as the Bank of America , the largest financial institution in the world; I am A. P. Giannini. Oggi inizia il periodo di feste, quest'anno è stato un po diverso da tutti gli altri, ma non dobbiamo dimenticare che siamo noi a decidere in base alle nostre s...celte. Quest'anno rinunciamo a qualche caffè, rinunciamo e regali banali che resteranno magari in un cassetto e regaliamo un sorriso che esce fuori dal cuore e ti stravolge, ad una persona che non ha un tetto, non ha un pasto caldo garantito e aspetta con ansia i volontari che nonostante le feste sono in strada a prendersi freddo e vento, rischiando anche, ma senza lasciare queste persone in balia del nulla. Aiutaci a sostenerli, regala un pasto caldo, regala un dono che ti tornerà indietro 100 volte. Anche da casa si può fare tanto, ma avrai la gioia e la consapevolezza di aver fatto un regalo diverso, un regalo che vale oro per chi non ha nulla e verrà apprezzato di più di qualunque regalo nel cassetto.
