How Acupuncture Helps with Allergies: No matter what kind of allergy you suffer from, environmental or food related, acupuncture can provide needed relief. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, the signs and symptoms that indicate a Western diagnosis of allergies relate to imbalances in the meridian and Organ Systems of the body. These imbalances may be caused by stress, poor diet, foods that don’t agree with your body, constitutional weakness, pollutants and env...ironmental toxins. Over time, if imbalances remain within the body, they will affect the functions of the Organ Systems, some of which are involved in the production of Wei Qi. The Chinese concept of Wei Qi is similar to the Western concept of the immune system. When Wei Qi is strong and abundant, we remain healthy. When Wei Qi becomes deficient, health is compromised and we become vulnerable to foreign invaders. Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine support and strengthen the systems of the body that are involved in the production of Wei Qi. By building up the supply of Wei Qi and facilitating the smooth flow of it throughout the body, signs and symptoms of allergies can be greatly reduced or eliminated. See more

Acupuncture works to control weight on various levels. Cravings in the body are often due to a lack of endorphins. Acupuncture can help to balance out the cravings by helping the body to release endorphins. Through the release of endorphins, the stress hormone can also be neutralized. Acupuncture can support the body to generate an efficient digestive process.

Amy holds a master’s degree in acupuncture from New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the New York City area. After graduation, she practiced in Chinatown for 2 years. She has been at her current practice, Acupuncture USA, on Maple Road in Williamsville, NY for 17 years and has practiced within Notaro Chiropractic for 5 years and is happy to be back! Her acupuncture services often include facial rejuvenation acupuncture, cupping, moxabustion, Gua shua, Zen Shia...tsu, electro-acupuncture, far-infrared heat therapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Acupuncture is effective for pain management, infertility, smoking cessation and many other health problems. Amy enjoys traveling the world and is very active promoting the advancement of her profession by lobbying in Washington DC for the Acupuncture for Our Heroes Act, a bill that would require veterans and senior citizens to have access to acupuncture services. She has also provided acupuncture for Cirque du Soleil, Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority, Niagara County Community College and Erie County Community College. Amy is board certified by NCCAOM in acupuncture. See more

For the past 3 years, I have been lobbying for a bill called the Acupuncture for Our Heroes Act. This legislation would require acupuncture services to be available to veterans. Acupuncture offers a non-addictive, cost effective alternative to opiates for pain management and is effective for many other health problems. Here is a short video of some of my patients giving testimonials. (Some of the video is in Chinese and some is in English). http://video.sinovision.net/

Ginger and Some of its Uses in Chinese Medicine: Chinese medicine considers ginger as a mild, sweet spice that has warming characteristics which help improve the digestive system and the spleen as well as balancing the body's yin and yang! It aids digestion and saliva flow and is often used for upset stomach and nausea. As well as helping common nausea, it can reduce nausea and vomiting for some pregnant women (always check with physician before using it) and help nausea caused by vertigo. Another benefit for women is helping with painful periods. Ginger can ease the pain from osteoarthritis, muscle and joint pain, and headaches. Chinese herbalists recommend ginger to help the body dispel cold.

A common question about acupuncture is whether or not it hurts. Acupuncture needles are extremely fine, and usually you will just feel a sensation like a mosquito bite as the needle is inserted. The sensation does vary depending on where the needles are inserted by very few people say acupuncture hurts.

The sensations that you feel during acupuncture treatment indicate that the point has been correctly located. Generally, the needles are left in place for about 20 minutes, but painful conditions may need longer treatment time.

It's important to remember that facelifts are more about pulling up loose skin than they are the underlying muscles. When facial muscles remain tight, they can cause existing wrinkles to appear more pronounced and additional wrinkles to form. Acupuncture may be a better option to relax those muscles, giving you a more youthful appearance.

Did you know that both acupressure and acupuncture are based on the same traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory of meridians, or lines of energy that flow through the body? The difference is in administration, whether by needles (acupuncture) or manipulation of the fingertips (acupressure).

Acupuncture Wan Qing 14.01.2019

One of the most basic tenants of acupuncture is that life force travels up and down 14 meridians of the body. Pain and even illness is the result of unbalanced or blocked life force.

While you may feel great after our sessions, you may not be able to come in every time you experience nausea or pain. Let's talk about some of the common pressure points you can access yourself to help relieve these issues between your visits.

Did you know that according to the American Association of Acupuncture Oriental Medicine, the use of the meridian system in traditional Chinese medicine is over 5,000 years old? Both acupuncture and acupressure treat the body by releasing blockages along this system.
