This is a list of questions and answers we are regularly asked about dryers. How long should it take for my clothes to dry? Most dryers can dry a full load of laundry in fewer than 45 minutes. If the load is still damp, the venting system is likely clogged and you’ll need to have it professionally cleaned out as soon as possible.... Do I really need to clean out my dryer’s lint filter after every load? Yes, air flow restriction is extremely dangerous. Clean it after each load. How can I reduce my dryer’s energy consumption? Don’t overload your dryer. Follow the owner’s manual for instructions on load sizes for your particular model. Clean out the lint filter after every load and once per year, have a professional clean out the entire venting system. Pay attention to drying times so that you’ll know when there is a problem. What’s better fabric softener sheets or liquid fabric softener? liquid fabric softener does a noticeably better job softening fabric and reducing static cling. Additionally, softener sheets leave a residue that may clog the dryer’s lint filter screen. Also, due to their stickiness, softener sheets have been known to find their way into the lint filter chute, within the dryer’s interior and within the vents attracting lint and leading to buildup causing a fire hazard. Is it important for my dryer to be level? Yes. All appliances perform best when set up properly. If a dryer is not level, it can cause components to wear out prematurely. Sometimes my "dryer chirps" or "squeals" is this normal? No it is not even if the noise goes away. This is a sign of a bad drum wheel or drum bearing. By ignoring these sounds your adding cost to the repair from unnecessary wear on other parts of the dryer. Having a professional do annual maintenance and if done can add years of life to your dryer.

Kegerator build update. "The first step" As luck would have it I had this gem fall into my lap tonight. We hope to pick this unit up sometime early this week give it a full service. We have teamed up with some local talent to help design a really cool functional but unique kegerator.

Tonight we received a call from one of our craziest customers with a special request. We have been tasked with building a custom kegerator. This is not what we normally do however this is a great opportunity for us to think outside the box as well as a reason to drink a few beers. We have 60 days from tomorrow to finish this project. Hope to have some pics of the build up sometime in the next few weeks. Please feel free to post any ideas. A keezer is not out of the question!

This is a repair I did just to prove a point. I picked this unit up for free the people put it up for scrap it was only 2 yrs old. The old "it would cost more to fix then it's worth" way of thinking. So I spent 45 minutes and put a $11 part it now works great and we gained more freezer space. This repair would have cost the original owners about $90 to have it fixed new this unit cost about $275.

This Viking dishwasher is only 3 years old. The owners said it never worked correctly mice had chewed two wire harnesses after checking each wire for shorts we just decided it would be best to rewire the unit as it seemed every wire had a break in it.

Tomorrow nights adventure in the shop will be a complete rewire of this 3 year old Viking dishwasher that we pulled out of a great camp in lake placid. Apparently the mice chewed through the main wire harness as well as the motors wiring harness . Stay tuned as Pics and maybe a video to follow up in this repair.

Ok folks it's hot out and refrigerators are breaking down left and right. This is why I tell people all the time have your annual service done. Otherwise it gets expensive. Why you ask? Here is the breakdown of a service call on a subzero in lake placid. #1. Travel time to and from lake placid 1 1/2 hrs. #2. Clean all serviceable fans and coils 1hr. #3. Test all systems (defrost cycle thermostat fans ect...) about 1 1/2 hrs. Total cost without parts and installation $...250 plus tax. Subzero are a refrigerator that is very expensive and will last a lifetime. however time is money and these units need someone who will service it properly by taking their time and doing it properly. Subzero's are not your average refrigerator if you have a kenmore GE or a more common unit the cost would be half that much because it takes half the time to diagnose and fix that's why subzero service calls cost more.
