2021 marks the twentieth year that Mrs. Yuhasz and I acquired Adirondack Taekwondo. Today we received this email. Hello Master Yuhasz, We hope you had a great holiday! Carter was definitely missing Taekwondo and constantly practicing - he was so glad to be back to Taekwondo. So great to see his dedication and enjoyment for it. I wanna pass along that Carter received student of the month in his school today! I am so proud of him as it’s been a long road of hard work for hi...m. I am also so proud he is a member of your program! I can’t thank you enough for all the support and character building you have provided Carter for the last few years. Today we made a difference in our community by donating over one hundred new toys to CAPTAIN Youth & Family toy shop. We have been collecting new toys for various organizations for the past 20 years during the Christmas and Holiday Season. This year we needed to make significant changes with social distance guidelines. We filmed aspects of the demonstration during our socially distanced team practices. For the past 20 years we have performed a special Christmas and Holiday Taekwondo Demonstration to collect toys for CAPTAIN Youth & Family Services. This year the show must go on! Therefore we have been filming this year’s demonstration to post on social media. We will be collecting new toys for CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services from November 30 through December 11, 2020 to help local families. Donations can be dropped off at Adirondack Taekwondo in Clifton Park from 3pm-7pm Monday-Friday.

We have shared with our students the value of hard work. Tonight with all safety and social distancing policies in place our students worked hard and will be earning their new belts next week. This Thanksgiving, when asked by their families, How are you doing?They can say, At Taekwondo I earned my new belt because I worked hard. Bullying hurts. This past October we had the opportunity to share our bully awareness program through videos we produced to a local school district. The school then had the students watch the video series during lunch in their classrooms due to covid. With tears in this parents eyes today, I was told that the videos impacted a family in such a positive light for their children that they wanted to personally thank me. That our program is a treasure in our community and that I have no idea the impact we have on the children who step into our Taekwondo school and now a family who we helped with bullying through our videos. We are so proud of our new Black Belts. After our school was closed due to covid we immediately transitioned to virtual lessons and outdoor sessions. With the school being open for in person lessons our students kicked into high gear with their training and today they have earned their new Black Belts! Seven months ago we had to close our Taekwondo school due to covid and to keep our students safe. We immediately transitioned to online learning. Today we have embraced the change and have every precaution and personal protection policies in place as we have returned to in person classes. This week we had the opportunity to test new Black Belts and color belts. Their hard work and perseverance has paid off. This is what Adirondack Taekwondo has always been about... your children and your family. Over the past few days we have had a new young student who seems to find comfort around him moms leg before each class. He's been working closer and closer towards the Taekwondo mat each day. Everyday we approach him with nurturing his desire to try Taekwondo. Up until today he has stayed on the threshold of the parent lobby next to mom.... But today he stepped on the Taekwondo floor and held his spot right next to mom - but he was on the Taekwondo mat and mom was in the lobby. But what happened next is a parent dream. He decided that the Taekwondo School was a safe place. Without saying much, he walked into his target kicking line and KICK SOME TARGETS! He then continued to walk with his fellow classmates and continued to kick the targets. As his instructor I could see his face change when he was kicking the targets. I could see his smile under his mask. I could see his eyes light up. I saw his walk change. I could see how much this meant to his mother and the joy in her eyes. Things are different now. But one thing hasn't changed - we love sharing Taekwondo and we love your children. Thank you. Master Michael A. Yuhasz

Wow! Today was powerful at our Taekwondo School. Not because our students techniques are awesome. But because in our community we’re making a positive impact on the children and families who practice together. First, one of our students gave me a creator owned comic that he worked on for a few months! He’s in elementary school and made his OWN comic! I stopped and kneeled down and was so impressed with his effort. Then while stripe testing our students pushed themselves to work hard. Then while one of our students was earning his stripe, said to me, I love you Master Yuhasz. My heart melted and said, I love you to Liam and I’m very proud of you. We truly believe that making a difference in a child’s life will make a positive impact forever. Special thanks for all our families who continue to support our Taekwondo School.

Not Taekwondo related. As my students know, I like to draw and I love St Jude’s Children Research Hospital. I bought a new sketch book. As you know I’ve been drawing everyday this year. Some are just 10 min scribbles while others have taken me days. For the month of October I’ll draw everyday as normal. BUT for this book I’m going to part with it and give it away.
