This Armenian professional and mentoring forum will be held on Wednesday, July 21st at 7:30 PM EDT at Mykonos Bleu Rooftop in New York. Tickets are $30 for students and $55 for all other attendees. Abstract: In this presentation, innovative designs of prosthetic arms that were developed in the last four ye...ars at CSUN will be presented. This includes (1) MataPro-1: a biomimetic prosthetic arm actuated using shape memory alloy (SMA) wire actuators, (2) MataPro-2: a lightweight prosthetic arm with an innovative locking and SMA stroke-amplification system, and (3) Hercules-1: a reliable prosthetic arm with wrist rotation and tactile feedback system. About the Speaker: Dr. Peter Bishay received his PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from University of California, Irvine (UCI) in 2014. He joined California State University, Northridge (CSUN) in Fall 2015 and established the Computational Mechanics and Smart Structures Laboratory. He published more than 30 research papers at reputable journals and conference proceedings covering different computational mechanics, composite and smart structures, aerospace structures and engineering education topics. He founded two new research-based senior design projects at CSUN, namely Smart Morphing Wing and Smart Prosthetics. He taught various undergraduate and graduate courses as an instructor in four different Universities in New Jersey, Washington, and California. He supervised nine Master students in the last five years. He served as a technical reviewer for over twenty journals in the last five years. Dr. Bishay is the recipient of the "Outstanding Engineering Achievement Merit Award" (2017) and the "Future Technology Leader Award" (2018) from The Engineer's Council. In 2020, he received an early promotion to the rank of Associate Professor at CSUN.

Abstract: - Current tactics used by adversaries - Where AI & ML can be used by both adversaries and defense - The importance of Security Frameworks and how to practically implement them to protect businesses - Hacking demo About the Speaker: As the son of a mainframe programmer, Raffi Jamgotchian has been around computers since the age of seven. Raffi joined and then later ran a successful Bulletin Board Service (BBS) out of his bedroom while in High School prior to attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and receiving a BS in Computer and Systems Engineering. Raffi joined a control systems manufacturer and helped implement some of the largest distance learning and conference systems in the United States. In 1995, Raffi joined as a general IT technician and scriptwriter for a mid-tier investment firm, and eventually was the Director of IT Infrastructure for the New York region. During his tenure at that investment firm, he served as an advisor for emerging technology investments and managed many of the large-scale IT integration projects including the first cybersecurity teams. During this time, Raffi obtained an MBA in Information Systems. In the fall of 2008, in the middle of the financial crisis, Raffi and his wife Aline formed Triada Networks to service small investment firms that were now cropping up. Raffi holds a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) since 2005 and is a member of the US Secret Service Cyber Fraud Task Force and FBI’s Infragard. Raffi also participates as the VP of CompTIA’s Cybersecurity Community Leadership Council and their Information Sharing and Analysis Organization (ISAO)
