Our next Babylon Heroes are Erik Lee and George Miller, volunteers with the Amityville Fire Department. Erik and George are both former Captains of the departme...nt, and have responded to thousands of calls over their careers. Most recently, they have transported many COVID-19 patients from their homes to the hospital over the last two months. All of our first responders consistently put themselves in harm’s way in order to provide emergency services. Thank you to to all of our volunteer firefighters and EMTs across the Town of Babylon for everything you do.

It is with deep regret and sadness that the Chiefs office announce the untimely passing of Thomas Ward of our Engine Company 1 after a courageous battle against... COVID-19. Tom is a beloved senior member of the West End Firehouse. Tom will be remembered for his love of his family, his kindness, gentle-nature and his willingness to help others. He truly was a friend to all and was the nicest guy you will ever met. Tom was a long-time employee of the FDNY where he served as a mechanic. We extend our deepest condolences to his family. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Rest In Peace Tom Ward.
