What a perfect blog...please read this! So often we see all the beautiful, heartwarming moments of adoption, but there are many painful moments of affliction when you realize the gravity of the pain and loss that your children have bore. I had the opportunity to hear Jim Caveziel speak a few years ago at Show Hope's 10th Anniversary celebration. If you don't know, he played Jesus in The Passion of the Christ. He has adopted children as well. He stated that he has never felt m...ore like Jesus than the moments in which he is holding his child and comforting them in the middle of the night. He doesn't feel like Jesus because he is doing some amazing thing, but because adoption truly is a sacrifice, taking on the pain your kids feel or show in ways that they may not even realize, and loving them through every single moment, whether good or bad. It is so worth it to see lives transformed...adoption can truly be a story of redemption, and it's not always an easy road to get there, but it is life-changing and always worth it! See more

DID YOU KNOW? The phrase "put up for adoption" comes from the orphan train movement, which took place in the United States from 1854 to 1929. Orphans were put on trains due for the Midwestern and Western states in the hope that they would find homes. At every stop along the way, these children were "put up" on the station platforms to see if anyone wanted to take them home, hence the phrase "put up for adoption." This practice was heavily criticized, and led to the establishment of agencies and laws to investigate and govern all adoptions. Because of this phrase's controversial beginning, many children and families prefer to hear that children are waiting for a family rather than saying that a child was "put up for adoption."

We'd like to take a moment to say "THANK YOU!" to everyone who supported our flower fundraiser and to those who graciously gave donations! Thanks to your love and generosity, we raised $500 to support the set-up of our Affect One ministry and to begin establishing funds to financially assist families in the adoption process. We are grateful for all of you and we can't wait to see the things that God has in store for this ministry! My dear children, let’s not just talk about love; let’s practice real love. This is the only way we’ll know we’re living truly, living in God’s reality." 1 John 3:18 MSG
