Digital Futures Workshops "This semester we are introducing two larger ‘events’ into the mix of workshops Portfolio Day and a Hack-a-thon. The former is positioned as a boot camp for the career day and an opportunity for students to get a solid portfolio template together for their future beyond May 9th. The day will provide a series of mini workshops, show-and-tell lectures from professors and an opportunity for students to get one-on-one feedback on their own portfolios, ...should they have one together. The second event’s details will be announced in the weeks to come, and will seek to extend the success of the fall Grimshaw Hack-a-thon that was conducted last semester. It was through Grimshaw's generous support that we were able to bring together over a dozen leading experts from Grimshaw, Thornton Tomasetti, Front and Woods Baggot for a full day event in their Chelsea gallery. We see this as the first of many semester headlining events that will provide a space for professionals, faculty and students to convene and have a conversation pertaining to technology, performance, BIM, robotics and computation. We hope to continue that dialogue, only this time, we will host it at Pratt Brooklyn towards the end of the semester. An award-winning international practice. 40 SELECTED students will be challenged to work collaboratively towards pushing their own designs into new territories, adopting contemporary emerging workflows, and develop new digital tool sets to augment their process. During the 12 hour event you will have the chance to work closely with architects, engineers, and consultants at the forefront of their development.
