We were pleased and honored to be part of the United States Aikido Federation's online class series alongside Annette Schediwy Mackrel, Sensei and Douglas Firestone, Shihan. USAF - United States Aikido Federation
I join so many others in remembering our dear friend and teacher Irvin Faust Shihan. I enjoyed a close and personal friendship with Sensei Faust for many years and, similarly, our schools have always been like sister dojos - a relationship that will continue. His seminars here were filled with not only his distinctive and creative aikido, but fellowship and love. The thoughts of all of us at Aikido of CNY go out to his family, friends, and his students.
To our dojo members and Aikido community: Due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus, the dojo will be closed from Saturday, March 14th through Saturday, March 28th. We hope to re-open on Monday, March 30th if it is prudent to do so. We will continue to follow the guidance of the health department as well as the advice of local physicians to determine an appropriate date to re-open. While we recognize this may be an inconvenience, because Aikido practice requires a hig...h level of physical contact, we have decided that closing the dojo for 2 weeks is the safest thing to do. While the dojo is closed, all surfaces and equipment will be cleaned and disinfected. When we re-open, please be sure to wash your uniforms after every class and maintain bodily hygiene. Also, please wash your hands before and after practice and follow the CDC guidelines to protect yourself. Realizing that society needs the physical, social and spiritual benefits that Aikido practice offers more than ever, we intend to reopen Aikido of Central New York open as long as soon as safely possible to provide health and vitality to our community. Never take a day of practice for granted! Take care and be safe, Sensei
