Yesterday's photo was a Northern spring peeper (Pseudacris crucifer)! This one was spotted at the Fetterly Forest Conservation Area. You might recognize their call as a common sound of early springtime. As their common name implies, the spring peeper has a high-pitched call similar to that of a young chicken, only much louder and rising slightly in tone. As a chorus, they resemble the sounds of sleigh bells. Listen to their calls below: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/File:Pseuda...cris-crucifer-002.ogg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Springpeepers.ogg See more

The mystery photo we posted yesterday is... GOLDENROD (Solidago) Though it's often blamed for seasonal allergies, your allergies most likely aren't caused by goldenrod at all! It's probably ragweed, a flowering plant that matures around the same time as goldenrod. Goldenrod's pollen is too large to fall far from the plant, but ragweed’s tiny pollen travels widely (and right to your sinuses )! .... . . . . . #mysteryplant #goldenrod #goldenrodflowers #plantphotography #flowerphotography #botanicalphotography #closeupphotography #macrophotography #sciencefun #athomescience #explorenaturewithchildren #sciencemuseum #scienceforkids #museumfromhome #sciencefromhome #sciencesunday #stemeducation #steameducation #younglearners #learningathome #keeplearning #sciencecenter See more
