Welcome to the world little Frenchie pup! What an amazing gift for the Holidays.
Our receptionist won't put her toy down long enough to answer the phone. It's so hard to find good help these days...
We've never seen a dog so relaxed for an ear cleaning and vaccines. Not pictured: Lizzy's tail that did not stop wagging from the moment she walked in the door.
Remember Seamus from back in June? He came to visit today and we can't believe how much he's grown. He's still the cutest boy and one of the sweetest patients we have. Enjoy your Thanksgiving, Seamus!
Remember we close at 4 PM today for Thanksgiving. Enjoy your holiday and stay safe!
Although our services are expanded to include routine veterinary care and grooming, we are still following NYSVMS guidelines by keeping our lobby closed to clients. We are asking everyone to please stay in your vehicle, call to let us know that you are at the hospital, and wear a mask to minimize spread when we retrieve or return your pet. Thank you for your patience during this unprecedented time.
This is Mello a day after her spay surgery. She thought she could overcome the power of her post-op pain meds, but it looks like she failed. She's now resting comfortably in her kitty surgery suit that keeps her from licking her incision. What a way to spend National Black Cat Day!
A lot of the time, our pets are just not used to us handling things so close to their eyes. These ideas can help make the whole experience of applying eye medication a positive one for both you and your furry loved one.
We all love sharing Thanksgiving dinner with our fourlegged family members, but keep the risks in mind! Sometimes that delciious peice of turkey skin just isn't worth it, no matter how sad those puppy dog eyes look. https://www.mybeevet.com/blog/pancreatitis-in-pets/
Thank you again to our amazing technicians Bryan, Jenna and Nadine for all you do. Happy National Veterinary Technician Week!
The difference those treats in the treatment room make...
Is your pet starting to itch now that the heat is on? Ask our groomer for a bath and blow out with medicated shampoo! It does wonders for the dry, itchy skin that can sometimes crop up during the winter months. Maverick (kind of) approves...
Looking for a jack-of-all-trades to help out on weekends, evenings, and a few daytime shifts. Duties will vary depending on the shift, but will include answering phones, handling dogs and cats, moving bags of dog food, cleaning kennels, and taking care of the hospital grounds. (Scooping poop & cutting the grass)
This week is National Veterinary Technician Week and we want to give a special thank you to our three technicians Bryan, Jenna and Nadine for all the hard work they do to keep Akron Animal Hospital running smoothly. Our clinic would not be the same without you. https://www.avma.org/national-veterinary-technician-week
There's something truly heartwarming about seeing a patient go home with a smile on her face after a stay in the hospital. Luna is only 5 months old and, coming in for treatment, you never would have known with how little energy she had left. After a lifesaving surgery and several days of hospitalization, Luna was able to go home last night and was barely able to contain her excitement. She still has a road to recovery ahead of her, but we wish her and her family the best on that journey. Thank you for taking such good care of this sweet girl so that our staff could take good care of her, too. We also want to call attention to the Pet Emergency Fund that helped make Luna's surgery possible. Thank you to all who have contributed in the past. Your donations save lives. -http://www.petemergencyfund.org/
It's all fun and games until someone ends up in a cone...
This daring boy is finally home and recieved a clean bill of health during his visit with Dr. Corrie yesterday. Everyone at Akron Animal Hospital is ecstatic that he was found safe. No more adventures for you, Mr. Roy!
Check out this new fundraising campaign for the Pet Emergency Fund! This is a great way to both raise money for pets in need, but also put a smile on the face of someone who may be seeing less visitors due to the pandemic. http://www.petemergencyfund.org/events/
Did you know that October is National Pet Wellness Month? Just like in humans, prevention and early detection are key to your pet living a long and happy life. Something as simple as noticing weight loss year-to-year can tip us off to underlying medical problems. Cats in particular are very good at hiding their ailments until something is seriously wrong. Remember, "wellness" is more than just vaccines. It can also save your pet's life!
We promise we do more here than hang out with cute puppies and kittens, but how can we resist sharing this adorable photo of Ranger the Jack Russell? This little boy might only be 7 pounds and 15 weeks old, but he has enough personality to fill several treatment rooms!
Little Sox says he's not tiny, he's ferocious! What an awesome way to start our Tuesday morning appointments.
