News & Updates from The Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park Dear Friend, For more than 40 years, the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park has fulfilled its purpose to Preserve, Honor, Educate, and Inspire. To preserve the military artifacts entrusted to our care; to honor veterans, military and military families; to educate about the value of service and sacrifice in defense of freedom; and to inspire a sense of patriotism and a desire to serve one’s country ...in protecting the right to liberty and justice for all. We have fulfilled our important purpose with support from volunteers, corporate sponsors, foundations and individual donors that all share our beliefs. Each year, The Park welcomes more than 150,000 visitors from all 50 states in our great country and 110 countries around the world. Never before in the four decades of existence has The Park faced such difficult times. We need your help now! The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent loss of revenue is threatening the very survival of The Park. We have been forced to cancel all youth encampments - a critical source of income. We do not anticipate being able to allow visitors to tour our main exhibit hall or three ships - USS Little Rock (CG4), the USS Croaker, and our flagship USS The Sullivans. We are also anticipating significant shortfall in revenue in our gift shop and from special events typically held on the fantail of the USS Little Rock. Without revenue from operations, The Park cannot survive. Please make a donation today to the "All Hands On Deck" campaign. Your donation will directly support Park operations including personnel cost, ship and exhibit maintenance, overhead expenses, and safety equipment for our volunteer docents - most of whom are veterans. It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of former Ala president Dot Harris. Thoughts and prayers from all of us to the family. She will be sadly missed.
