Adde Maddeson, '12 is a Project Engineer for Crane Hogan Structural Systems. Her latest project is the Rundel Library Terrace in downtown Rochester, NY - we tore down the failing concrete deck/structural steel beams and built up new concrete columns with concrete (cast in place) beams to support a somewhat complex terrace deck over the old canal/subway tunnel. The finished space will be for the public as an urban community space to walk down and view the Genesee River. We anticipate completion of this project in 2021.

Learn about concrete and slab construction in many of our construction engineering technology course like CIVL 1013 Portland Cement Concrete, CIVL 3553 Commercial Building Methods & finally in our Construction Management degree in CIVL 5213 Foundations and Concrete Construction.

The SUNY Impact Foundation administers a scholarship for the NYS Wireless Association. The goal of the program is to support students at SUNY and to help attract young talent to their industry and member companies (~300 in NYS). The scholarship committee met recently and would like to expand the pool of candidates (associate or bachelor degree students who have completed at least half of their degree program) to include students from construction management. One of the 1st hands-on experiences of construction management is portland cement concrete. We are raising money to completely overhaul the lab.
