We’re not meant to be in perpetual productivity pushing all the time for results. Nothing in nature works that way. @alisa.vitti We live in a culture that rewards action and success but doesn’t view rest and down time as equally productive. Not only do we see it as unproductive, but we often will label & judge it as lazy or not hardworking enough.... However, this mindset creates in imbalance of yin and yang, which is the root of disease. Yin is the feminine energy of the universe. A few of it’s qualities are earth, dark, cool, inward, & receiving. So this would be the the energy of the resting mode. Yang is the masculine energy of the universe. A few of it’s qualities are sky, light, warm, outward & production. This would be energy of the action mode. We can’t have one without the other. They are interdependent, opposite but the same, and constantly transforming into each other. Taking time to relax and be inward is just as important as getting a job done and being outward. Without the proper rest, the task can’t even be down adequately. So it doesn’t really serve us anyways to constantly hustle with no down time. Yet we still operate in this Yang dominant mindset. We can see this imbalance take form of dis-ease in the Winter months as seasonal depression & fatigue. A huge culprit of this is that Winter is the most Yin time of year, yet most of us continue to work the same hours, sleep the same amount and keep our social calendars as we would in July. It’s important that we honor the shift within us as our external world becomes more Yin. A few ways to do this are: 1. Find time to get more sleep. We need more deep sleep this time of year. Practice waking up without an alarm, or find an alternative to a traditional alarm so you can learn to not be pulled out of a deep sleep cycle by a loud & artificial sound. 2. Eat for the season. This means warm, nourishing food. Think soups, stews, seasonal vegetables & nutrient dense animal proteins. What’s available around where you live? 3. Still find time & space to get outside. Bundle up, wear a hat & scarf and enjoy connecting with nature:) She wants to connect with you too! 4. Rest.
