Watching IBM 06.11.2020

Anon from Poland: Hi, could You post and ask for New company made from GTS - New Co there are information that in Poland they will close Katowice GTS and in WROCAW the plan is to reduced it to half ... so it is around 2000 people to be made redundant. Just asking because I read somewhere that info.

From Peter Mendes-Shineberg: In March 2016 IBM Australia secretly shredded the redundancy policy which had been in place for decades, which provided for a separation payment of 8 weeks plus 2 weeks for every year of service. (I have a copy of this policy.) For many (including me), this redundancy policy was like an insurance policy which made staying on at IBM (rather than resigning) worthwhile. This was replaced by a secret, unpublished policy which capped payments at 16 wee...ks. I and many others - reputedly 185 in March 2016, and 600-1,000 throughout 2016 - were made redundant and not paid the benefits accumulated under the old policy. It seems that most were aged 50+, or were employed for 10+ years. IBM's lame justification for this moral bankruptcy was that the new policy regime satisfied minimum legally prescribed standards - nothing else mattered to them. The wider implication of this is that corporate policies relating to employee benefits are completely meaningless, as they can at any time be capriciously and arbitrarily discarded and replaced by whatever suits the employer - with retrospective effect. A journalist at a major newspaper is interested in publishing a story to expose this perfidy. This journalist wants victims of IBM Australia, or former IBM Australia managers who were suborned by IBM to administer this policy, to come forward (through me), recount their experiences and/or provide relevant information. I know IBM settled several cases to which NDAs apply - if you contact me I will respect your anonymity. PLEASE, if you can help, message me (Peter) on Facebook Messenger! See more

Please post anon. I am an IBM Cloud seller who was recently put on a 90-day PIP plan and i'm looking for advice: Can you transfer to a different position within IBM while you are on a PIP plan?

Please make anonymous: I was RA’d on June 22nd and they still haven’t sent me my personal items from my desk, even though a team is currently back in office. Being pulled into an extensive process just to get it sent to me. Is this happening to anyone else?

From anon: Former colleagues still at IBM are reporting that last Friday they were put on PIPs (Performance Improvement Plans). The narrative is that the PIP is so onerous and laden with basically an impossible mountain to climb within that 30 days. They are all just giving up. This is IBM's way of saying it wasn't a layoff, and it wasn't age related and avoiding the sensitivity of laying people off during Covid. Pretty slimy move. Glad I'm working for another company that treats their employees significantly better - Not perfect, but far better.
