The chipmunks and squirrels, said Yes, it IS tragic They dropped food at their potlucks that were pure quinoa magic Meanwhile, the UUs lounged in dirty sweatpants, Polishing chalices, chatting to houseplants When up in the foothills there was a huge boom Everyone in Hickory, logged off of Zoom When, what to our screen-fatigued eyes should appear, An old man’s apparition without one reindeer Is that Santa? said one Lutheran kid to his friend "No," said his pal, "that’s Ralph Emerson!! We learned about him in UU Sunday school.: He won’t bring us X-boxes, but he’s still pretty cool. Hello, said the ghost, Call me RWE, This year has been awful, of that you’ll agree So the powers allowed me to pop in for a time Give you inspiration, shift your paradigm When I was on Earth, I preached about wonder The smell of fresh blueberries, the magic of thunder. How God speaks through us if we pay attention The holy is everywhere, we’re its extension. I know you are struggling with isolation Weary of division plaguing the nation But the moon is still glorious, the bluebirds still sing You can still trust that more light will come in the spring. Live in the sunshine, drink the wild air. Hear the laughter of flowers, show creation you care. I say, every day can be the best of the year. Live always in awe, don’t focus on fear. This life is a miracle, the shift, it is mental Live this way, and your life will be pure transcendental! Then the people, we all started looking around At the world, at each other, without making a sound. Just for a moment, we stood rapt with attention Our troubles at bay, held in suspension We saw with new eyes this glorious earth It felt like a veritable UU rebirth. Several All Souls peeps showed up (as we do...) at the Together We Rise rally on Public Square today. Susie, Paula, Joanne, Harriet, Marty, Karen, Jon, Rebecca, Shane, Sarah... Good speakers, nice weather, great music, many more supportive beeps than angry roars of trucks racing by.

We had a great turnout and perfect weather for our Adopt-a-Highway clean up today! Here's a photo of our Masked Marvels and some cool Halloween decor at one of the houses along the road.
