Meet our President, John Turner. For the past 45 years John has been an environmental educator and advocate. He has given hundreds of talks and programs, and led nature walks on a wide range of natural history and environmental topics for many organizations. John also likes to share his passion with the pen, having written articles that have appeared in numerous newsletters and magazines including Defenders, Birder’s World, Long Island Forum, Bird Watcher’s Digest, Networking Magazine, and The Conservationist. He is the author of a popular Long Island nature guide Exploring the Other Island: A Seasonal Nature Guide to Long Island (2nd Edition) and a children’s book Waylon’s Wandering Waterdrop.

John and I have planned an exciting excursion for this fall. SAVE THE DATE November 17-24, 2019 CALLING ALL CRANIACS! - Bosque Del Apache, New Mexico ... We’ll catch the 32nd Annual Festival of the Cranes, a celebration of the winter migration of Sandhill Cranes, as well as several species of waterfowl (Snow and Ross’s Geese, Northern Pintail, Northern Shovelers, etc.), to the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. We’ll also bird at nearby Belen Marsh (waders), Ladd S. Gordon Waterfowl Complex and Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge (sparrows). FOR MORE INFORMATION - [email protected]
