Please join me Saturday night at 7 for another episode of "Me and You and Music." Micky Dolenz of The Monkees celebrated his 76th birthday on March 8th. Two years ago on March 10th, my childhood dream came true! I got to see the remaining two Monkees in concert. I still am in disbelief that it happened! I even got to watch them do sound check!... What better way to celebrate this Monkee week than to salute my first Monkee love, Micky Dolenz! Recently, I ran across a cassette tape of what could be considered my first "radio show" and when I listened to it, I found nine year old me, professing that I was indeed "Micky Dolenz's number one fan!" Don't worry, I digitized it and if you tune in this Saturday night, you get to hear little me not only proclaim this title, but also perform a poem I wrote about Micky. It is a hoot! I have posted a photo of the tape in the comments. It is simply titled, "Fuzz," my family nickname. Shortly after making the tape, I was gifted "The Monkees Tale" pictured here. I also couldn't miss the opportunity to do this show when my hair is at peak Micky Dolenz poof (as seen in the second season of the show.) The pandemic made recording the past season of MYM challenging, but with some creativity, teamwork, and patience, we made it through and made some cool radio at the same time. As the third season of the program got closer, I was forced to make decisions that were tough. COVID is still a real threat. How can I make content and keep myself and others safe?... Then it hit me. Why not use the technology we have been using to meet and stay in touch for the last year? It wouldn't be a new season of the show without my traditional first guest, Tim Collins! But since he is in Germany and wasn't able to make it home for the holidays, I thought that might not happen. But it did through the use of technology! So I declare this weekend to be the delayed start of the 3rd season of "Me and You and Music!" Tim was very patient and helpful as I worked out the technological bumps.
