WHAT WAS THE CLOTHING IN ANCIENT EGYPT? The clothing in Ancient Egypt for men, often consisted of a simple thong, made from a cloth drape.The material changed a...ccording to the social class; in linen for the pharaohs, in leather or braided fibers for the military and for the people. Over the years, transparent skirts of different lengths were placed above the thong, supported by a belt. Another garment consisted of a pleated skirt, triangular in shape, on which the priests wore leopard. Women's fashion was more sophisticated, they also wore a thong similar to that of men, but over it they put transparent tunics, called Kalasiris.The Kalasiris arrived under the breast and were supported by two large crossed straps on the back, which covered the breast partially. The fabrics used were very thin, of different colors: white and blue symbolized Ammon, the God of the air; green meant youth, while golden yellow was the flesh of the Gods. See more
