Crimean Tatars of the Crimean Peninsula of Ukraine commemorate 76 years of the May 18, 1944 en mass deportation from their homeland. Crimean Tatars' ongoing struggle as victims of the Soviet Stalin ethnic cleansing has been recognized as an act of Genocide by Ukraine, Latvia, and Lithuania. Ayla Bakkalli with Akhtem Esatov, Taner Seytgaziyev, and Eliza Resutova celebrated The Crimean Tatar Flag Day with the Consulate General of Ukraine thanking the H.E. for opening doors of Ukraine to the Crimean Tatars. We also celebrated and met with the Ambassador of Latvia and conveyed our appreciation and gratitude to the Saeima in recognizing the 1944 Sürgün as an Act of Genocide. We also visited The Permanent Mission of Latvia to the United Nations. We visited the Permane...nt Mission of Lithuania and conveyed our appreciation to Lithuania in recognizing the 1944 Deportation of as Genocide. We closed our day with the visit to the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to UN and thanked H. E. Ambassador V. Yelchenko for the countless resolutions on Crimea at the UN and in establishing precedence in the recognition of the 1944 Deportation as Genocide. Thank you, Ayla Hanum, for your hard work, the experience, and our beautiful Taraq Dama Bayraq!
