Domestic abuse remains a serious issue within the secular and religious communities in Israel. Miklat is dedicated to restoring the lives, both legally & socially, of women opressed in abusive family relationships.
Miklat became a full service legal support center, free of charge to all victim of domestic abuse in December 2012. Miklat has helped hundreds of women break free from their horrific marriages. Want to help? Donate to www.miklat.org #stoptheviolence
"Without Miklat's services, many abused women were caught in the welfare system or lost in the legal system. Miklat guides them through complex and challenging legal aspects of the dire circumstances, from divorce decrees, alimony, child support, mediation, and reconciliation". - Estanne Fawer, Founder.
B.'s husband was neurotic about tidiness. One night the littlest child spilled a little bit of his yogurt on the floor and B. didn't see it. When the husband came home from work late, and saw the drops of yogurt on the floor, he screamed and made B scrub the floor and clean the house even though she was getting ready to go to sleep. Today, B is a free woman. She gained the courage to escape from her husband and with Miklat's help, she is now living on her own with her children in her own apartment. And no one gets angry if she has a few dirty dishes in the sink.
Thank you all who have donated to our Shavuot campaign and if you would like to donate to help us provide legal services to women who are victims of domestic abuse, please join us. Donate to www.miklat.org

We were good friends from our Kibbutz and liked to spend time with each other. Once, when N & I were talking in my backyard, N pulled out his gun and pointed at me. I asked him what he was doing and he said he was just joking around and liked to pretend. He laughed afterward and hugged me so I did not feel worried. After some time, we decided to get married. Upon the birth of our first child, N was so angry that I gave birth to a girl instead of a boy that he started screami...ng at me all the time. It would always wake the baby, making her very irritable because she needed more sleep. Sometimes he pulled out his gun waving it at me to make her stop crying. He started sexually assaulting me and making me feel ashamed that I was not being a good wife, and that I only care about the baby. What made me finally escape was when I was sick with the flu and N wanted to be with me and I told him I was too weak and ill. He was so furious that he pulled out his gun but this time he cocked the trigger. Out of sheer panic, I told him I was pregnant so that he wouldn’t shoot me. See more
