Good day everyone, my name is Amil Virani. Today I’m announcing my candidacy for the Peninsula Public Library Board as a WRITE-IN candidate. As a lifelong district resident, I’ve always enjoyed my time at our highly rated library. Today’s library deserves more, including the long-awaited new library that our community is counting on. According to figures published by the Nassau Herald in 2017 and 2019, despite the library’s circulation being the 2nd highest in Nassau County, ...we have the smallest library in the county. We must work immediately to find a building while working with the appropriate officials in Government to ensure strong community support. In addition, we must support and grow the library’s current work throughout these hard times. As a Lawrence High School graduate and current first-generation college student, I will bring diversity to the library board. This year I finished with numerous public speaking awards which include finishing as a semi-finalist at the New York State championship held at Hofstra University and as one of 3 scholarship recipients for public speaking. Dear Supporters, First, I would like to Congratulate Murray Forman and Asher Mansdorf on their reelection to the Lawrence School Board. We ran a formidable and competitive campaign but in the end, we did not have enough votes to beat the incumbents. The incumbents also ran a formidable and competitive campaign, and their victory is well deserved. I would also like to thank my great, wise, and energetic running mate Asher Matathias. Secondly, I would like to thank all of our... supporters. Every vote counted in this election and I am proud the team that supported Public Schools was able to receive over 1,000 votes. This itself is cause for celebration and I am confident in our ability to organize for next year. I think with an aggressive campaign our team can win next year. Finally, I want to address the situation that occurred today with our Poll Watcher. Today, my friend, Eddie Vrona, attempted to Poll Watch for our campaign. Because he lived outside of the District, the District prevented him from Poll Watching. He tried presenting the law to the School District that one does not need to be a resident of the District to Poll Watch. The District Clerk refused to review the law and called the Police on our Poll Watcher. Eddie was our only representative present at the counting. This was a clear act of intimidation by the District Clerk and we will ensure that this situation does not go unnoticed. I am calling for a complete investigation into the situation, a personal apology to Eddie, and a review of the District’s de-escalation policy. Thank You, Amil Virani

Hello everyone, my name is Amil Virani, Candidate for the Lawrence School Board. Our current Board has been disconnected from our community. The Board has laid off over 100 Employees and TOOK away people's health insurance during this pandemic. We have seen a systemic failure to implement distance learning. I'm running as a PRO PUBLIC SCHOOLS candidate to fix all the issues facing our school district. Here's what I pledge to do. Improved online learning. I will ensure stude...nts have the technology they need and I will make sure our students are not falling behind. I will make sure our hard-working teachers get a fair contract. I will respect them at the bargaining table and work in good faith. Keep our class sizes down. The current Board wants to eliminate the Class Size Cap. I will protect the Class Size Cap and ensure our students get the best instruction. Stop the disrespect at the Board Meetings. Our Current Board disrespects our teachers and members of the Community.
