Amityville Fire Department 11.12.2020

Just after 3am this morning our members were alerted for a Building Fire at The Thrift Store at Oak and Broadwayy for Smoke coming from the store front. Chief of Dept. 1-1-30 arrived on scene and advised he had smoke showing and to start out a Mutual Aid Engine from North Amityville and a Rapid Intervention Team from Copiague. Shortly after 1-1-30’s arrival 1st Asst. Chief 1-1-31 and 3rd Asst. Chief 1-1-33 arrived on scene, both Chiefs 31 and 33 geared up and quickly accesse...d the scene and found the fire to be located in the hair salon. Command advised the 1st due engine to hit the hydrant and stretch a line into the hair salon and advised the incoming truck company to setup on the corner of the building and get the bucket to the roof. The crew of Engine 2 stretched a handline into the hair salon located the fire and made a quick knock down on the fire, while the The crew from Ladder 5 did a quick search of the fire building and overhauled the store front and checked the roof, while the engine crew from North Amityville checked the adjacent store fronts for any fire extension. The fire was brought under control with in 30 minutes and the fire was contained to the hair salon with minimal smoke damage to the adjacent stores. (Photos Courtesy Andrew Ippolito) See more

Amityville Fire Department 29.11.2020

This evening just before 5:30 our members responded Mutual Aid to Massapequa Fire Department for a FAS Team (Firefighter Assist and Search Team) to the scene of a Working House Fire on Ford Dr. West. Ladder 1-1-5 and 1st Asst. Chief 1-1-31 responded and were on scene with in 5 minutes of being toned out. The crew from Ladder 5 brought all necessary tools up to the command post if they should be needed and stood fast awaiting orders. All Amityville units were placed back in service with in an hour.

Just after 9pm last night our members responded Mutual Aid to a Working House Fire in North Amityville on Ronek Dr. for 1 Engine to the Scene. Engine 1-1-2 responded and was designated the 2nd Due Engine, while en route Chief of Dept. 1-1-30 Advised Engine 2 that there was a fire in the basement of the house and on arrival to pull a 2nd line of North Amityville’s Engine. Engine 2 arrived deployed a 2nd line and advanced to the basement to back up the first line and knock down... any hot spots. Ambulance 1-1-12 and Medic Car 1-1-81 responded as well under the direction of 1-1-30. All units were placed back in service with in 40 minutes.
