We fell asleep in one world, and woke up in another. Suddenly Disney is out of magic, Paris is no longer romantic, New York doesn't stand up anymore, the Chinese wall is no longer a fortress, and Mecca is empty.... Hugs & kisses suddenly become weapons, and not visiting parents & friends becomes an act of love. Suddenly you realise that power, beauty & money are worthless, and can't get you the oxygen you're fighting for. The world continues its life and it is beautiful. It only puts humans in cages. I think it's sending us a message: ‘You are not necessary. The air, earth, water and sky without you are fine. When you come back, remember that you are my guests. Not my masters.’ See more

Here’s your Monday morning reminder that you can do anything you set your mind to. (And that this quarantine can’t last forever)

What’s your favorite quarantine binge? I’ve been watching Jamestown from PBS, and I’m really enjoying it. Also secretly just glad that we’re all stuck in 2020 and not 1620. Happy Friday!

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Here’s a little Thursday morning reminder that perception is everything. While the media tries its absolute hardest to spread fear and terror, let’s not forget that faith, hope, and love are just as contagious.

Found the cutest little neighbourhood wandering through Speyer (one of the oldest cities in Germany!) last weekend.

Want to know one of my secret favourite things about super old cities? Doors like this look like they house fancy wine caves or cool secret underground bars, but really it just leads to a pizza place.

Matt and I are big scotch fans, so Islay was a huge bucket list destination for both of us. Naturally... six days before we left, I found out I was pregnant. I spent the whole trip craving mushy peas (which we never did find) with my head in a toilet. Islay, however, was SO cool. Imagine the sleepiest little beach towns, linked together by sheep paths, with gorgeous landscapes (I can’t get enough of rolling hills and ocean views), and world renowned scotch distilleries at every corner. Already planning a return trip in 2038.

I was born with salt water in my veins. Every year, I get an ache to go home; to lie on rocky Maritime beaches, and fill my lungs with salt air, and dip my toes in an Atlantic that’s so cold it takes your breath away. Marseille was not that. Marseille was ungodly hot, and gritty, and full of colour and life, and croissants, and French wine, and the Mediterranean feels like bath water, and I might just forever be in love with her.

Not sure what was prettier, the stunning old homes all over Maastricht, or the incredible greenery covering them.

Three seconds after I took this, Fergus decided to go number two smack in the middle of the most crowded street in Monschau. Here’s to the shop owner who was gracious enough to give me extra bags and for @doterra On Guard sanitizing spray.

It’s hard to believe, but a year ago, Matt and I hadn’t lived on the same continent for over 15 months. We were just arriving in Scotland and slowly making our way up to Ardgour for our wedding. Now we’re living in Europe and planning our anniversary getaway in the Alps. Oh, it’s crazy how much can change in 365 little days.
