1980 CB750F: Valve Clearance Adjustment With 26K miles on the bike I felt it would be a good idea to check the valve clearances. All but four of them were within spec. A quick swap out of the appropriate shims and all is good to go.

1980 CB750F: Fork Seals The forks didn’t appear to have any leaks but I figured while everything was apart it was a good time to replace the fork seals. Who knows when the seals and oil were changed last? It’s just a good thing to do as far as I am concerned. Put some fresh rubber on while the wheels were off too.

1980 CB750F: Rear Shocks The rear shocks were ok but looked a little taddy. Some may argue they could be replaced but I felt all that was needed was a good clean up on them. I believe they came out pretty nice and simply cleaning was far more cost effective than replacement.

1980 CB750F: Carburetors The carbs were not in terrible shape but still needed a good cleaning and a few replacement parts. New gaskets and O-rings will be done and the air cut off bladders were a bit chewed up so they will get replaced as well. After a float valve check for leakage and a bench synch they will be ready to go back on the bike. A vacuum synchronization can be done then but that will be for a later date.

1980 CB750F: Getting started on the resurrection. As things generally go I pull off the tank and seat to see what’s going on underneath. The usual critter nest has overtaken the air box. Intake manifold carb boots are hard as rocks on the motor side and cracked on the air box side so they will need replacing. I’ll pull the carburetors and give them a cleaning and rebuild. Checking compression and spark is pretty standard as well.... Compression looks to be fine and there is a strong spark so that is always good.
