We posted about Magnus back in the fall, but this handsome gentleman is still looking for a family. Will you help us find one for him? If you're wondering if Magnus is as refined and dignified as he looks in his photos, the answer is yes. Magnus is unlike most other cats: he's got an old soul in the body of a young cat. Gentle and loving, Magnus just wants an outlet for that love. He lives with FeLV (feline leukemia), which means his lifespan will likely be shorter than aver...age. But we're committed to finding him a wonderful home where he can live out whatever time he's got on this earth, adored by his human(s)! Because of his condition, Magnus should be the only cat in the home (it's not contagious to dogs or other animals), which suits him just fine since he'll want to be the center of your attention. Want more info about Magnus? Visit animalhaven.org! See more

And now, for your #FeelGoodFriday...Kob is ADOPTED! Several months ago, Keenen and Sarah-Kelly got engaged! And as they planned their life together moving forward, they knew they wanted to share their home with a furry friend. Enter Kob, and it was love at first sight. Congrats to this new, adorable family!!

Poor Tatianna has a fractured hind-leg. This easy-going girl has been taking her bedrest order very seriously and has no problem snoozing the day away while she heals! She's on some pain medication while awaiting a more thorough ortho check this week and she may need surgery to correct her leg. Although we are waiting for more information, she is available for adoption! Tatianna is a chunky, 6-year-old lady who needs to lose a bit of weight - she's a surprising 20lbs! However, she should refrain from long walks, stairs, or strenuous playtime until her leg is fully healed. She does very well with other dogs but would probably do best in a home without cats - she's a little too interested! Please contact Animal Haven directly through her profile on our website for more information on Tatianna!

FOUND DOG! This sweet girl, who we've named Irene, was found in Brooklyn this weekend with no microchip or identification. She is incredibly sweet and gentle, it's hard to believe she is simply a stray. We've exhausted our internal resources and have received no calls about a lost dog with her description. If you have any information, please contact [email protected]. Irene will be up for adoption if no one comes forward. You can reach out directly through her profile on our website if you are interested in giving her a new home!

With temperatures rising, ‘kitten season’ is in full effect. We’ve currently got six (6!!) nursing moms at Animal Haven, dutifully raising their sweet babies, most of which are only days old. Yes, they’re *extremely* cute. But they’re also representative of the countless cats in our community who are un-spayed, leading to litters of kittens that can reproduce even more litters at a very young age. It’s one of the factors that fuels the population of homeless cats in shelters. All of the mama cats and their babies will eventually be available for adoption - and spayed/neutered! - when they’re ready. And we encourage you to spay or neuter your own pets to help reduce the number of pets looking for homes!

Who you gonna call?...GHOSTBUSTER! This dapper, senior dude is looking for a new home where he can hang and be the center of his new person's attention. Ghostbuster still has lots of energy for an older guy and will make a fun companion. Adopt Ghostbuster!

Jai & Jem were rescued together in St. Lucia and brought to Animal Haven by their rescuer for a second chance at life. Abandoned at only a few months old with 2 other littermates who unfortunately didn't make it before being rescued, these sisters have been through so much already. Now they are 8-months-old and finally ready to start a new chapter in NYC. Although they are both incredibly sweet and gentle, these girls are understandably very timid after all they've been throu...gh and will need a patient and understanding home to help them come out of their shells. We have no doubt that they'll adjust once they're given the time and attention they need to thrive. They are not bonded and we are looking to place them separately at this time. Jai & Jem did well with children in their foster home and would likely do well with other calm dogs with proper introduction. They also are not bothered by cats! If you're interested in giving one of these girls a new home, please contact Animal Haven directly by inquiring through their profiles on our website (link in bio).

Nervous to Adventurous! It's amazing what a little time and patience will do! Jan was one of the many dogs rescued by Humane Society International from a meat farm overseas. She is initially very shy with new people, and will need some time to decompress and settle in a new setting. She has been warming up slowly but surely to people and loves exploring when she thinks no one is looking! This funny little girl has a lot of character and a lot of potential, but would benefit... from a patient adopter with some experience with socializing fearful pups. Jan has been blossoming while in foster with one of our amazing staff members. While we would love for her to go home with another small, well-socialized dog that could help show her the ropes, this is not a requirement. If Jan would be the only dog in the home, we're looking for a patient, quiet, understanding home willing to go at her speed. She will be a project for sure, but the reward will definitely be worth it! Please reach out directly through her profile on our website if you're interested in adopting Jan!

Meet Ricardo Tubbs! This handsome 2-year-old fella just made his way from Miami to NYC, the opposite trek from his TV namesake. And while the Miami Vice "Rico" was hunting down his brother's killer, this Ricardo Tubbs is hunting down a new home! He just arrived this week so we're still watching his personality bloom and getting to know him. Visit our website if you're interested in adopting Ricardo Tubbs!

Several days after Thanksgiving, Cupid was surrendered to Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) extremely pregnant. Within a day, she had given birth to a beautiful litter of puppies. Our friends at Animal Care Centers reached out and asked if we would take in this sweet mama and her babes, and we welcomed them with open arms. Cupid has been resting comfortably with her tiny puppies, and receiving lots of love from our staff and volunteers. She's a terrific mama - always making su...re her pups are safe and clean, while happily greeting humans with a gentle wag of her tail. We're making sure mama has plenty of time to nurse and socialize her babies, so they won't be ready for adoption for about six more weeks. Cupid will be spayed so there are no more unexpected litters, and she'll be available for adoption, too. In the meantime, enjoy the sweetness that is Cupid and her pups!

A very special girl made her way to Animal Haven this week, and we'd like to introduce you. Sashay was brought to @adoptmiamipets with a massive, ulcerated tumor on her hind end. An 8-year-old gentle, sweet girl, Sashay just needed someone to give her a chance. Our dear friend Yolanda Berkowitz stepped in and arranged for her to receive the best possible medical care. Surgeons removed the giant mass, closed up the wound, and she began her healing journey. Sashay is now at Animal Haven and looking for love! She is such a happy-go-lucky dog who loves treats and absolutely rocks a doggy sweater. Interested in making Sashay a part of your family? Visit animalhaven.org!

These kids are AWESOME! Tyler and Alexandra love animals so they decided to start a fun project to raise money for the dogs and cats of Animal Haven. These sweet siblings created fun, colorful mask chains, sold them to friends and family, and raised over $500 for our adoptable animals! We are so honored to be the beneficiary of their kindness and hard work. Thank you to Tyler and Alexandra for your kindness, and to mom Kari for raising such compassionate kiddos! (Pics shared with mom’s permission! )

Who's that handsome guy? Why, it's Magnus! Don't let that serious look fool you - this boy is 100% pure love, and he's looking for a compassionate, caring person to welcome him home. Magnus was just diagnosed with FeLV, or Feline Leukemia. At 1 year old, Magnus could still have some solid time ahead of him, or his life may be shortened by his condition. But what we can tell you with certainty is that his zest for life will make his adopter as happy as it's made us! Magnus loves attention and greets visitors with purrs and head butts. He's a big fan of food (aren't we all?!) and is just as happy as can be. Magnus should be the only cat in his new home, and he's not going to mind having ALL the attention to himself. Can't adopt Magnus, but want to support his care while he waits for a home? Click the DONATE button!

Now this is some true Friday joy! From the meat market to a LOVED family pet, Saga has made quite the journey! Saga came to Animal Haven in 2017 after living on an Asian meat farm, where she was being raised as food. She had only ever known a cage, but we could see a twinkle in Saga's eye. She wanted to be cherished. And that she is! Saga now lives happily with her family and has a zest for life. We're so proud of how far you've come, Saga!

What better occasion than a rainy, cold #NationalCatDay to tell you about Storm! She's been waiting for a home at Animal Haven for several months now and we know there's someone wonderful out there for her! Storm isn't the kitty who runs to the door and does figure-eights between your legs. She's not the one who will head-butt prospective adopters or vie for your attention. Storm's more of an, "oh yeah? You want my love? Well then earn it..." type of gal. She's a true kitty queen and she knows it. Well, that's made it hard for interested adopters to see her true colors. If you're patient with Storm and allow her to adjust on her own time, you'll be blessed with a truly great cat companion. For more information on adopting Storm, visit animalhaven.org!

*ABANDONED PARALYZED DACHSHUND* Rainy doesn't understand what happened. One day she was with the people she loved in a familiar home, then suddenly she was left in a hospital, in pain. Rainy, a 5-year-old dachshund, was dropped off by her people at a local emergency vet after she sustained a spinal injury that left her paralyzed in her back legs. Then they never came back for her. The hospital reached out to Animal Haven and we've taken Rainy into our custody in order to get... her the diagnostic care and treatment she urgently needs. Our next step is to schedule an MRI to see if there's any hope for Rainy's injury to heal (or be surgically corrected) in order to regain her mobility. Then she's got a long road ahead, including physical therapy and possibly a doggy wheelchair to help her walk. Despite her pain and circumstance, Rainy is an absolute ray of sunshine. She cozies up to new people she meets and enthusiastically greets her caregivers. Rainy is a true testament to the resilience of animals and the unconditional love they offer us. Will you please help Rainy? Every dollar matters and will allow us to provide Rainy the best care possible. Click the DONATE button or visit animalhaven.org.

Meet Bala, who just arrived at Animal Haven all the way from Albania! She was rescued from a life on the streets and now she's ready to upgrade her digs and find a family. Who remembers Masha, the super cute Albanian pup adopted from Animal Haven back in the spring? Well, Bala is Masha's mom, and she's just as sweet (and gorgeous!). Though she's understandably shy at first, Bala is already decompressing and her adorable personality is starting to show. Think Bala might be a great addition to your home? Who remembers Ping, Jomo, and Jamai? These 3 pups, affectionately nicknamed The Soi Boys while they were in our care, were rescued from the meat trade in Thailand through the Soi Dog Foundation. They spent around a year at Animal Haven, initially incredibly fearful and shut down dogs that had trouble trusting humans. Given their history, who could blame them? With tons of time, patience, dedication, and treats from our amazing staff and volunteers, these three eventually blossomed into the "normal" dogs you see here! All of our boys found the most awesome and loving families, with doggie brothers and sisters to help show them the way. Oh, and something special happened today - check out our stories on Instagram to see their reunion! We wish we could've been there!

Back in his day, Grampa had to walk 15 miles to knead in his bed! Uphill! In the snow! The little whippersnappers today don't know how lucky they are to have their beds right at home! We know he's exaggerating, but Grampa arrived at Animal Haven looking a bit worse for wear with a wound on his tail; he clearly had been through a lot. With a little bit of TLC he's cleaned up, healed up, and is ready for his close up! Grampa is only 7-years-old, but his warm and fuzzy purrson...ality gives off strong grandpa vibes. Grampa always looks forward to visitors, although his favorite pastime is napping in his big ol' bed! Thankfully he doesn't have to walk 15 miles - uphill, in the snow - to reach it. This kneady gentleman is just looking for a home to lounge around in, and he hopes it could be yours! If you're interested in adopting Grampa, please visit our website (link in bio) and fill out an adoption inquiry to begin the process. . . . #animalhaven #caturday #grampa #backinmyday #catsofinstagram #gingercat #gingercatsofinstagram #purrfect #purrfection #catsofig #catlovers

While most of us have been adjusting to the new normal, it's an unfortunate reality that many lives are still feeling the cascading effects of COVID-19. Jay Jay's owners lost their business and needed to move back to their home country and were unable to take Jay Jay with them. Heartbroken and with no other options, they brought Jay Jay to Animal Haven to help find him another family. Jay Jay is an affectionate 3-year-old poodle mix who adores the attention of humans! He c...an be nervous at times in new situations so we do think he would do best in a home with no small or hyper children. He was clearly the center of attention in his previous home but we are looking for a quiet and patient household who understands they need to go at his pace. Jay Jay gets along fine with other dogs but is all about his people! If you are interested in adopting Jay Jay please visit his profile on our website (link in bio) and submit an inquiry to get the process started. We expect he will receive a lot of interest so we thank you for your patience and understanding as our team works to get back to everyone! To learn more about how you can directly help animals who have been affected by COVID-19, please visit animalhaven.org/covid-19.

Mightiest and fairest of all the pups, Galadriel is looking for a new home! This sweet girl is just 2-years-old and was brought to Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) when her previous owners could no longer continue caring for her. Energetic, playful and full of light, Galadriel is up for anything! She's still settling in here at Animal Haven but so far has been an absolute joy. She still has that puppy-like energy so we think she'd do best in a home without small children. She does have a cherry eye, which although it's not bothering her, will be surgically fixed soon. She still needs to be evaluated by our vet so we will know more about her soon! If you're interested in adopting Galadriel, please contact us directly through her profile on our website (animalhaven.org) and fill out an inquiry to get the process started!
