Supplement to the live video done today. So let me start by saying this was impromptu, unprepared and not rehearsed (obviously ) The past couple of weeks, I’ve received texts, messages and posts about the Italian Ices we used to make at Anna Artuso's Pastry Shop, so I figured wth! Also you should use CRUSHED ice, not chopped ice (I’m an idiot, you should all know this by now ) Off camera I made the Cream ice like we used to in the bakery. It came out great. Below are t...he four recipes to try during these last few weeks of summer. You can with the base info given to make any flavors you wish. Use your imagination and have fun with it. Also check your flavors as your adding different ingredients. Start with a little less, you can always add more. One last side note: We used to use a citric acid in the fruit flavored ices. You may if you’d like, use a drop of lemon or lime juice but be aware, with these small batches it could change the flavor drastically. After today’s experiments, I would melt the sugar with whatever liquid you’re using together so there’s no sugar crystals left and it won’t have a grainy texture. This is the base of each of your Italian Ices. After that, the flavors and whatever you decide to add to it is up to you. Fill blender with 8 cups of crushed ice 1/2 cup sugar Chocolate Italian Ice 2 tbsp cocoa powder 1 cup whole milk 1 tsp Vanilla Pinch cinnamon Lemon Italian Ice 1/4 cup (maybe more) Lemon juice Cherry Italian Ice 1/2 cup maraschino cherries with liquid Cream Italian Ice (Lily with Almonds) 1 cup whole milk Drop of egg shade coloring (just to make it look nicer) Don’t have that? Try a drop of yellow. 1/2 tsp rum (or more) 1 tsp Vanilla After blended add some sliced almonds. As many or little as you enjoy. Oh, and yes, I still have sleeves of Italian Ices cups stored in my garage

Grandma Anna turned 85, the bakery turned 40 and this block party was the start of what would become the Fall Festival. The community came together to celebrate with food, fun, music, and events throughout the day. What a great memory. Enjoy the photos!
