Hey guys, Apicella Auto Sound is back with another build log! This time, it's a 2020 Range Rover Sport that came equipped with the Meridian system. Unfortunately, the owner of the vehicle thought the Meridian system would be enough to satisfy him and then some, but unfortunately, it performed poorly enough that he had to seek out a car audio installer that he could trust to get the sound system up to par and then some. That's where we come in. Once we took his lists of do's a...nd do not, we guided him to a game plan that would be relatively quick and easy. The goals he had were to keep the car as OEM appearing as possible, keeping all of the OEM functions through the Range Rover head unit, and make it sound the best it possibly can while keeping the price reasonable. What we came up with was the following.. . Helix V Twelve with URC . 3. . Helix M One. . Focal Flax 10" subwoofer. . Audiofrog GS8ND2. . Audiofrog GS25. . Audiofrog GB10oe. . OEM rear speakers. . ResoNix Sound Solutions sound deadening. The Helix V Twelve was used to integrate after the OEM amplifier and provided all of the necessary input eq and summing capabilities that we could ask for, while also powering all of the speakers in the car, including the OEM rear speakers. Since the Audiofrog GS8ND2 are dual 2-ohm midbass speakers, they were powered off of two channels for extra power. All OEM locations were used, and the spare tire was removed to house the subwoofer and the amplifiers since the owner has roadside assistance. The end result was a very impressive sound system that was completely hidden. Oh, nearly the entire install was done by our new employee, but that's an announcement for when he's fully here and settled into New York :) . Like i said before, we are back! (as far as our videos go lol) The owner of this 2020 Range Rover Sport was rightfully disappointed with the original Meridian OEM system that came with it. After a chat on the phone and a visit to the shop to go over details and listen to some of our demo cars, we came up with a game plan. That plan was to build an OEM appearing sound system that integrated into the vehicle as if we did nothing, but sounded like the memories of his father's hi...gh-end home audio system. Using a Helix V Twelve, we integrated into the OEM amplifier which required all 12 inputs to retain all OEM features, as well as some correcting and summing of the signal. The amplifier rack and subwoofer enclosure were installed and secured into the spare tire well to keep it all hidden. At the end of the day, the customer picked up his vehicle with a sound system that was better than he could have possibly expected. Another "Fix-it" tune today. Buckle up... We are always happy to help people and set their systems up properly. This car was done by another shop with some really nice (and expensive) gear, but the install and especially the tune left much to be desired. Today, this client swung by to have us look at the install, and while we couldn't do much for him today, we did find some time to at least brush up the tune for him. Apicella Auto Sounds new demo car builds audio portion is officially started. After hours of course.. This will cover everything that our customers could possibly ask for, from mild to wild. 2019 Volvo S60 R-Design . OEM Radio and DAP (not sure which model yet)... . Helix DSP Ultra with Director OR URC.3/Wifi Adapter (most likely a Wifi Adapter in each Helix piece to have total control) . (3x) Illusion C12 . (2) Focal 3.5WM & Focal TBM center channel . Audiofrog GS60 & GS10 (rear door, not pictured) . Audiofrog GS42 (rear deck, not pictured) System 1: Stage 2 OEM-Style System . Helix V Twelve . Audiofrog GB10 . Audiofrog GB25 . Audiofrog GB60 System 2: Stage 4 Fully Custom System . (3) Mosconi Pro 4|10 . (3) Mosconi Pro 1|10 . Focal TBM . Focal 3.5WM . Focal 8WM . Both systems will share center channels and subs. Center channel will be powered from a Mosconi 4|10 . The Helix V Twelve will get signal from either 2 or 4 outputs of the Helix Ultra, so the Ultra will essentially have total control of the system once the V Twelve is set . I will be able to change presets to play any combination of the aforementioned systems in any way that could be imagined. This way we can demo different styles of installs to different customers. Stage 2 being the most common, while stage 4 being there to show whats possible.
