The ministry of correction is essential in the family of God ( Part 1) #discipleshipmatters. #christianDiscipline #spiritualgrowth They refused to take correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to repent (Jeremiah 5:3). Yesterday, a friend of mine who is currently a student in one of the nations top theological seminaries approached me concerning the subject about the lack of self discipline and leadership among Christians of today. Today,... I m prompted to share some of except from that conversation we heard: Today's Christians don't want to be corrected and the reasons are quite clear besides the fact that there are just too many half trained preachers and unseasoned man and women of God out there. But there also well trained, God fearing and season man and women of God today. But still many professing Christians, don't like correction Correction is one of the core or basic requirement for every believer. I strongly believe that if you don't allow your leader or a God appointed teacher correct you when you go wrong! God himself will correct you. Correction is like pruning and when its done with the grace - with Jesus in the center, its very successful. The world has thought us how to live our lives, what to accept and what to not accept regardless of what biblical says. But without proper correction, especially from seasoned men and women of God in our lives, there wouldn't be proper spiritual growth hence spiritual decay. Without spiritual correction and discipline, one cannot grow spiritually. And this lack of correction has lead to falling of the church, failed marriages, rebellious teens and youth etc. Today, only a very insignificant fraction of Christian willing accept corrections from their leaders. People becomes "offended when an elder tries to correct them without sounding or seem being judgement. Biblical correction is not like someone telling you what to do or how to live you life. But its a godly counseling concerning a matter that may impact and affect your life and future. In 2 Samuel 12 prophet Nathan counseled King David over his wicked affair and murder of Bathsheba husband to cover up the sin. David got the message and responded with, Psalm 32:3-4 "When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away Through my groaning all day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was drained away as with the fever heat of summer." THE PROMISE -All the Promises of God Are Yes in Christ. And We say Amen! There is something profound about God and the Promises He made to us! And it is always reassuring and comforting. There is no expiration date on this promise. It does not merely say, I will do it and later He says no!. Men may say to you, " I will take care of this or that for you - And may later along the line, say to you, I cant and /or I wont do it. But Not so with God. In the previous verses of... 2 Corinthians, Paul was making the point that nether he, nor his fellow ministers of the gospel had wavered in their words, their teachings, their testimonies, or their faith. Though they were all under great strain of temptation to do so. But they were being slandered, imprisoned, betrayed, pursued, persecuted, and abandoned, yet their message never wavered because the message they preached was not their own, it was of God’s and God doesn’t change so it God promise for us. His promise toward His children is not 'Yes' then, and 'No" later; but in him it is always Yes. Hallelujah!, For all the promises of God find their Yes in him through Christ. That is why we utter the Amen for every promise of God for me - through him which is Christ, to the glory of Lord, God. ...Amen!
