The same applies to iPhone XS and XS Max with eSIM benefits. The trend is soon to be broken as awareness spreads like a plague and so should be. The silver-lining is that Apple now conceals the number of sales in its quarterly reviews. This was inevitable. Worse yet to come to Apple and all other leading companies that are following the exact same trend - exploitation of multitudes of consumers who fall for such technology emancipation and fall for so-called life changing features in gadgets that are bound to upgrade every-year because they refresh those shiny things every-year purposefully. In terms of Apple, design tactic may help sell AppleCare Plus or iCloud Drive space, but people soon would realize the true intent of Apple behind radical design hype that only seems more intense in advertisement campaigns than in actual product design and longevity reinforcements. This is affecting consumers, service shops and Apple's own notebook sale volumes. It's not that Apple is unaware of such. It knows that its own business model has begun to backfire but Apple seems seriously trapped between its own failed strategies and superfluous intrigues of design hype. As someone (proverb) says: an idea well-expressed is like a design of gold, set in silver.
