#SoWhatAreYaUpToAlumniSunday Meet Alumna, Jenisa Caban ‘18 After graduation this past May, I made the move to Brooklyn with two fellow Adelphi alum and former Admissions Ambassadors! I currently have a role at Northwell Health as a Workforce Readiness Coordinator and am attending Brooklyn College for my master’s in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. Adelphi made the transition to graduate life seamless and I still keep in contact with many of my coworkers, friends, and family. My undergraduate years have given me so many great opportunities and I can’t wait to contribute as an alum!

Adelphi has given me so many opportunities to grow in my field! I am on the executive board of the Future Teacher’s Association (FTA) which is a club for students interested in perusing a job in the education field. We hold fun and engaging meetings that will help us when we are in the classroom one day. Through FTA, I met my best frie...nds too!! Also, this spring break, through STEP, I will be traveling to Norway to learn more about the Scandinavian way of teaching!! I am so excited! #WhyAdelphiWednesday Meet Yaffa Mavasheva, a freshman nursing major! "I chose Adelphi because I loved the atmosphere and the friendliness I received when I took a tour with my school. I decided to pick a nursing major because I was amazed by the countless opportunities Adelphi offers for nursing students as well as the resources provided like the mannequins and stimulation labs. Becoming an admissions ambassador helped me make many friends of all ages and become more social... with others. Additionally I became a peer educator to promote mental health and well being by making fun and interactive programs for students to engage in. Overall I’m very happy with my decision of coming to Adelphi because I get the constant help I need from my professors and friends to keep excelling both in and outside of my studies. I majored in Psychology and had two minors in Marketing and Human Resources Management (Dr. Riordan called me a triple threat once ). Now, I'm in graduate school studying Industrial Organizational Psychology, and I'm working as an Organization Development Intern with Northwell Health, doing leadership development. I became interested in Adelphi because of my cousin - she LOVED ...her experience, and I began to see what she was talking about from my first visit at the school. You could see that people genuinely wanted you to succeed, and that's why I chose Adelphi. It's so hard to pick on experience, but I am so thankful to the leadership experiences that the Admissions office and Center for Student Involvement gave me. I would not be where I am today if it weren't for those opportunities! It also gave me the skills and preparation I needed to set out on a career in the film industry. Thanks to LinkedIn, I have several offers and opportunities to choose from. These offers include Netflix, 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros and Disney among other companies. Study Abroad Spotlight Hey everyone! My name is Brigid Lynn and I'm a junior sociology major studying abroad this semester at Chiang Mai University in Thailand! My experience at CMU has been absolutely amazing so far. All of my classes are really interesting and have helped to immerse me into Thai culture. The good here in Thailand is DELICIOUS and and the Thai people are so welcoming and friendly. There's a lot to see here in Chiang Mai, including beautiful Buddhist temples, waterfalls, and elephants! Studying in Chiang Mai has also given me the chance to explore other parts of South East Asia, including Cambodia, Vietnam, and Malaysia. My study abroad experience in Thailand has truly been a dream come true so far, and I'm looking forward to all that's still to come!
