We are in awe of our nurses every day and share in her immense appreciation for their strength, passion, and commitment to provide quality care to the people we support. "It is the Year of the Nurse. I have always found those distinctions interesting and wondered how it feels to each profession, each specialty, to practice in their field at that time. What’s different? What makes this year , that year, this week special? While I do not have the answer for all, I know what makes THIS year different. Like never before in the past 100 years the field of healthcare in the entire world has been put to the test. That does not negate other fields and what they have gone through during the COVID-19 fight, but we all know that healthcare is at the very hard front of the line on this one. I have worked in healthcare settings for almost 20 years now, as part of a team, with physicians, nurses and other clinicians. Regardless of how hard it got; nothing has ever compared to this, and nothing has ever compared to the qualities I have observed in you. For over 8 weeks now I have witnessed from you a commitment so powerful it has energized me. I have always noted your strengths, your actions during this time have always been your actions, but under these circumstances you have not waivered and THAT must be said. While you may have faced your own personal struggles with this disease you have come back stronger than ever. You have demonstrated a commitment, and a passion so powerful it is stirring. I have witnessed some of you come together with staff to do what needed to be done and others stand up and single handedly turn a situation around that seemed impossible. You have literally fought for life and for the compassionate end of life and it’s not over yet. I am immensely proud to work with a group of nurses that exemplify elevating the standards of your profession. I have always felt that you are stronger and unique given the setting in which you provide healthcare and the blessings and challenges that come with those you care for. It is an honor to work with you, we are extremely lucky to have this team here at this time. WE THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS. Have a Happy Nurses Week!!!"
