For almost a year now we have been taking precautions and staying proactive to protect ourselves and others from this new virus we were introduced to last March, but I think it’s safe to say we can see the light at the end of the tunnel now! Who can say when exactly we’ll be back to normal but whatever day it is, it’s coming! Stay Strong - Stay Hopeful - And Give yourself something to look forward to!

Age-Friendly Allegany County asked Santa and Mrs. Claus if they would fly in from the North Pole to see some of our friends that have been most isolated during these times! See their post below.

We completed our first project as an AFAC committee by designing and displaying Signs of Support around our five care communities in Allegany County including..., Houghton Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Highland Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Wellsville Manor, Cuba Memorial Rehab and SNF, and Manor Hills Assisted Living. An AFAC committee turkey put the yard signs in around each community on Wednesday 11/25 and enjoyed some playful interactions with residents and staff through their windows while doing so! We are thinking of all of our wonderful Allegany County residents in our care communities. We hope you stay warm and cozy this winter season, and know that Age-Friendly Allegany County is here for you! A BIG Thank You to our essential workers - YOU ARE INCREDIBLE! Last but not least, a BIG Thanks! to those organizations that designed the signs, including: Access Allegany, Homecare and Hospice, ACASA, PPAC, Ardent Solutions, Southern Tier Healthcare Systems, Alfred Box of Books Library, Allegany County Office for the Aging, Recovery Options Made Easy, and BOCES students. We’re better when we come together! See more

Falls on the playground are a common cause of injury. Check to make sure that the surfaces under playground equipment are safe, soft, and consist of appropriate materials (such as wood chips or sand, not dirt or grass). The surface materials should be an appropriate depth and well-maintained. Help us celebrate Fall Prevention Awareness Month today and every day!
