To all of our patients at Art and Science Dentistry: Can you believe that it has been over one year ago that our world changed so much? Finally, the Spring weather has arrived and we can be outdoors more and begin to return to some of our outdoor activities. I think everyone is very eager to get back on track with their routines and the things they enjoy, even with the careful attention we must still practice to protect ourselves and others from this virus. I am even looking ...forward to cutting the grass and pulling weeds again. I have enjoyed seeing each of you returning to our office to continue your good dental health. At this time approximately 80% of our patients have returned for examination checkups and dental hygiene appointments. I encourage everyone to stay on schedule with consistent dental appointments as it is the best way to preserve your good dental health. Dear Patients, We are in the holiday months when time seems to slip by very quickly. It also means that if you have dental insurance benefits remaining for 2020, now is the time to schedule an appointment. Most insurance benefits run on a calendar year (Jan.- Dec.) so if you don’t use your benefits, then you will forfeit them. Hats off to one of our own heroes from Clifton Park! He was also a patient in our dental office from his early years. Matthew grew up in Clifton Park and completed high school at Shen. He went on to study biotechnology at RIT, and completed a PhD in immunology at Harvard in 2014. Mathew is conducting research at Emory Medical School on the subject of antibody formation in COVID-19. Working with the head of Rheumatology at Emory, he has identified surprising similarities betwe...en immune responses to serious viral infections, and autoimmune disorders such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. His work was recently featured in a New York Times piece, and he is now contributing to the research efforts of SeroNet one of the National Institute of Health’s major efforts in response to the pandemic. 2021 IS HERE! We are ready and eager to start the new year with everyone healthy and well rested. 2021 will be a year of continued careful attention to all of the practices we have learned to control the spread of this virus. Vaccines are on the way and I think everyone is looking forward to their turn. Looking forward and making plans can make this winter go by more quickly. I know that everyone does not share my enthusiasm for snow, but I am hoping that there will be plenty... of snow for cross country skiing and some downhill as well. Keeping busy with new activities is also a help to plod through until we can get more outdoor time when the weather warms up. My daughters gave me a home beer brewing kit for Christmas to fill any extra spare time, and I have the first batch in the making. It was interesting and I am eager to try the results. And, of course, keeping up with personal fitness, health practices, and DENTAL HYGIENE is a must so that when we return to our non-covid lives, we will be ready. When you return again, or for the first time since last March, this office will be clean, safe, and prepared to provide your dental care in the safest environment possible following all of the CDC guidelines. In addition, there is fresh air circulation and air purifying equipment in every room to make the air you breathe clean and pure. WHAT A YEAR! And yet there is so much to be grateful for in the year 2020. Our families Our health The future... All of us here at Art & Science Dentistry extend our best wishes to everyone for the holiday season and for the new year 2021. Thank you for continuing to be a part of this dental practice. We intend to continue to provide the very highest level of dental care in our very safe and modern office. If you have not been able to visit us for continuing dental care in 2020, I hope that I will see you in the early part of this year. Consistent attention to your dental health is the cornerstone of prevention of dental problems. In order to allow our staff to enjoy the holidays with their families, the dental office will be closed for the week of December 21 and December28. Dear Patients, I have been so glad to see so many smiling faces and hear so many stories of how everyone has persisted through the past six months. I have become a better cook, more organized in my management of personal chores, and much more aware of how important my good health is. Your stories have echoed many of those same things. It is always a pleasure to hear how your family members are doing and to see you returning to as many of your routines as you can. So many time...s, I hear your frustration with the pandemic, but there are even more stories of how well you have overcome the obstacles. Our dental office has completed the installation of upgrades and improved management of the safe separation of people as they visit this office. We clean the air throughout the entire office continuously. Every possible surface is cleaned thoroughly after every use, every instrument goes through a rigorous cleaning and sterilization process, and every precaution is taken to make your visit safe. You have met our new staff members and seen them performing our strict protocols. Our returning staff members are well prepared to meet all of the new protocols as well as continue the high standards we have always had. I appreciate that each person visiting us has accepted our safety precautions and have managed the different scheduling, business office contact, and in office safety measures we ask you to follow.
