Why is the United States Post Office so important? The USPS keeps independent bookstores alive by providing affordable and reliable shipping. The USPS transp...orts vital resources including: prescription medications, food supplies, census forms, mail-in voting and absentee ballots, and much more. If the mail service becomes privatized this means that private mail carriers will get to dictate where they do, and do not, deliver. Who will be impacted the most if USPS shutter? Poor people, the elderly, small businesses and Americans who live in rural areas. The USPS also provides 600,000 Americans with well-paying jobs, including nearly 100,000 military members and veterans. Did you know that in low income neighborhoods the post office also serves as a bank, where you can buy money orders to pay rent and bills? Shutting down this service is class warfare. We must keep the mail accessible for everybody, everywhere! What can you do to help the USPS? Text USPS to 50409 to electronically generate and send letters to your representatives based on your zip code. This is a legitimate service and only takes a few minutes with basic information. OR Buy some stamps and write some letters to your elected officials this week and let them know we have to keep the USPS funded. Make your voice heard! @REPJUDYCHU SENATOR DIANNE FEINSTEIN @kamalaharris

Save the date for NEXT Saturday | August 15th | 3 PM and join @artbook and @inventorypress for a live stream event with artist Mungo Thomson, discussing his ne...w book 'Mail' in conversation with Tosh Berman. In a time of pandemic and onslaught of privatization of the public sphere and the nation's public land, our event celebrates The United States Postal Service which is on the frontline for democracy. We pay homage to Mail Art, which through the international postal service was, and is, the outlet for sharing art in a parallel universe to the Art Industry. DM or email to order a signed copy of 'Mungo Thomson: Mail' and choose to have the book shipped in protective packaging OR choose a homage to Mail Art where every copy will have the marks of its journey through the postal system and therefore different, though same as all the others. It is your copy to choose your 'Mail' experience.
