Featured Artist Evangeline Barbour Evangeline Barbour has been in the graphic and web design business for over 20 years. Her love for art and everything creative began as a young child. She classifies herself as a mixed media artist, exploring primarily acrylics, metals, paper and various fabrics. Her recent passions blossomed from the lack of being able to keep a bonsai alive. Determined to be able to bring her love of nature to life in an unconventional manner, she began to... sculpt trees with wire. Her trees of life, wire tree sculptures, zen gardens and sun catchers all embrace and reflect the soulfulness of nature. Evangeline has incorporated beads in the intricacies of her work, as well as incorporating some of nature itself. Each piece is one of a kind, and made with reflection and care as if they were as delicate as their living counterpart. Featured Artist Keenan Johnson I have been taking photos professionally for over 18 years. Being blind in one eye, photography has given me the opportunity to look at my subjects in a unique and different light. I particularly have an interest in shooting the human form and nature. My inspirations are Gordon Parks, and Jacques Henri Lartigue. I have often volunteered my services to local organizations such as The Fruit Belt Coalition, Elim Christian Fellowship, and the Freedom Celebration to name a few. I am a member of the International Freelance Photographers Organization and the American International News Service.

About the Artist: Lori Maines Lori Maines, a recent addition to the resident community at Artspace Buffalo, is a transplant from the Finger Lakes, having moved to the area three years ago. She has many different styles and mediums that she enjoys, including fiber arts, (cultural and tribal works including yarn weaving, Ojos de Dios, or yarn mandalas, dreamcatchers, and macramé), loom knitting, acr...ylic painting and fluid acrylics, resin painting, jewelry design, stained glass, and ceramics. Currently she specializes in acrylics, resin work, crystal jewelry, and fiber arts. She plans future classes at Artspace, including Acrylic Pouring, Resin Painting, and Mandala Weaving. A self-taught artist, her education is in early childhood, with credentials in all ages. She has taught ceramics and stained glass in adult classes, and in her children’s classrooms, taught sculpting, finger-painting, tempera painting, matrix drawing, sketching, Chinese watercolor, puppet making, book illustrations, and many other styles and mediums. Currently she keeps busy with Psychic and Holistic Events and Shows, displaying her healing crystal jewelry, mandalas, acrylic and resin paintings, and various handmade items relating to metaphysical sciences. She has been an exhibitor at the Music is Art Festival at Riverworks in Buffalo, contributed to the Artbreast Initiative at Artspace, co-hosted a Luna Circle Celebration including a drum circle and friends from her psychic connections for readings, and has exhibited at Artspace in her first resident show. She is considered one of the top five mandala weavers in the US, and was recently invited to join a small group of master weavers on a trip to Europe, to tour and teach weaving classes. Meet one of our resident artists who we are happy to have involved in our holiday pop up...Susan Marie Borden: About the Artist Susan Marie Borden I am intrigued by the vast possibilities in both discovering and developing saturated surface design, then converting it to a well-composed abstract visual. My work is not driven by a single medium, but expressed through any medium applicable to my design concept. From my dimensional collage and mixed media pieces to free hang...ing art quilts and sculptures to wearable art (eco/ice dyed or discharged scarves, fulled wool purses, necklaces and pins) my successes are defined by my own personal perspective and how well I have challenged myself in the next phase of my work. My commitment to explore these ongoing creative passions always pushes me forward. Some of my work has been interactive with the public. I often donate to favorite fundraising efforts. I exhibit regularly and I have been honored with awards. I have jurored several WNY quilt shows. I have held both Exhibition Chair and Director positions at Impact Artists Gallery. I am currently the Resident Fibreartist at River Art Gallery and Giftshop. I have also been juried into the Buffalo Society of Artists as a lifetime exhibiting member. I am a member of Enjoy the Journey Art Gallery, Fiber Interest Group of WNY and Tuesday at the Arts. I have several public pieces in New Orleans, Niagara Falls and Buffalo. I have taught fibreart workshops locally at the NACC, Buffalo Art Studios and Impact, ARTspace Buffalo and in my own loft studio. I have gained a diverse art education at 8 Colleges and Universities in WNY, New Orleans and Manchester, England.
