Throughout this weekend we have a student production of Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead. In this brutally honest and funny portrayal of growing and learning, Bert V. Royal's "continuation" of the Charlie Brown universe features frank discussions of identity, sexuality, suicide, violence, and mental health. This is not Peanuts for kids. Giving students the opportunity to work with and learn from our performers is a cornerstone of what we do here at ARTSwego. Have you joined us for a workshop or discussion with one of our artists before? If so, which one, and what was your favorite part? #MarthaRedbone #artswego #sunyoswego

We’ve talked about Tamar Greene’s performance skills, but we haven’t even begun to highlight Tamar’s arranging & songwriting skills which is a testament to his musicianship. One of our favorite arrangements of his is an arrangement of the famous art song Core 'ngrato, by Salvatore Cardillo. He arranged it for voice and cello to perform for his mother’s 60th birthday since it is her favorite art song and it’s amazing! As for his songwriting, Tamar has written quite a few bops ...including one called Addicted to the Money that he performed at Lollapalooza back in 2019. Lucky for us, we’ll get a peek at his amazing skills at his concert tomorrow when he performs his original arrangement of "Make Them Hear You" from the musical Ragtime and an original song titled "In My Arms". Make sure to secure those tickets! #artswego #sunyoswego @tamar.greene See more

We’re only three days away from the concert and we couldn’t be more excited. By now, you probably know that Tamar Greene stars in Hamilton on Broadway as George Washington. But you may not know this show has been circling around him far before his debut. He was offered a chance to see Hamilton during its early off-Broadway run but turned down the free ticket due to a busy schedule. After the show had become popular, he tried to contact his friend to see if the offer was still... open and of course, it wasn’t. Tamar ended up getting lucky and won a lottery to purchase a ticket in July 2015. After seeing the show, he decided he wanted to be a part of the show and competed in many auditions and callbacks for various Hamilton roles for over two years without results until 2018. That year, he was cast as George Washington in the Chicago production where he stayed until 2020, when he made his Broadway debut. A bit of trivia for you to win an ARTSwego prize: who was Tamar seated in front of when he watched Hamilton for the first time in 2015? #artswego #sunyoswego #trivia #hamilton #musicaltheatre @tamar.greene See more
