Traditionally, Kente was woven in individual strips and painstakingly stitched together. Historically, a royal would commission a master weaver for himself and cohorts, but today, it is the average Ghanaians hope to be able to own one or two authentic Kentes in their lifetime! Weaving of the Kente was a male purview. The weavers formed close attachments to ...their looms, devising extreme measures to keep their looms safe.
