Five years ago, I partnered with NYU Tandon School of Engineering to create and provide funding for the Veteran Entrepreneurship Training Program, which helps veterans take their skills and transition into exciting entrepreneurship opportunities. To date, there have been approximately 200 program graduates, and every year we are proud to see these talented entrepreneurs and their companies grow. I am thrilled to hand off the guidance of this program to Assembly Member Didi Barrett, Chair of the Assembly Veterans Affairs Committee. I know that the NYU Tandon Veterans Future Lab will continue to flourish and provide many of New York’s Veterans with wonderful opportunities to add to New York’s economic health.

Improving mass transit means more than fixing signals and tracks or installing modern train cars. The installation of ADA elevators at the Lorimer Street - Metropolitan Avenue L/G station is an important step towards making our public transit more accessible to North Brooklyners and will improve their lives as well as our community.

Today I am announcing the retirement of Brooke, my district office cat coordinator. She will be relocating to her retirement home with a fellow staff member where she will be loved and receive many treats. We will miss you, Brooke! --- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 8, 2020 Contact: Emily Mijatovic... Assembly Member Lentol Announces the Retirement of Brooke the Office Cat Brooklyn, NY - Assembly Member Joseph R. Lentol (D-North Brooklyn) today announced the retirement of his longtime district office demoCAT, Brooke. Working in the office since mid-2010, Brooke has become a favorite of constituents, children and cat lovers across North Brooklyn. In that time, Brooke has served as the official office greeter and Lentol’s top advisor on feline issues with some input on homo sapiens. Brooke has also maintained a strong social media presence on Facebook. In recent months, Brooke received several inquiries about her plans for the future and received several jobs offers. Despite this, Brooke decided that now is the ideal time for her to retire from politics and public life and spend more time with her family. Brooke is moving to Albany where she has a loving home with a fellow staffer and a warm place in a sunny window waiting for her. Assembly Member Lentol thanks Brooke for her many years of service and for keeping mice at bay. Happy retirement, Brooke!
As the number of COVID-19 cases rises in communities statewide, it's more important than ever that New Yorkers continue to wear a face mask in public and when social distancing isn't possible. For more information on COVID-19 or the evolving state health guidelines, visit nyassembly.gov/coronavirus.
Since the pandemic began, New York health care workers have worked tirelessly and made unimaginable personal sacrifices to provide high-quality care to COVID-19 patients. Their courage and selflessness in our state's time of need will never be forgotten. Thank you!
With the rise of COVID cases, it is crucial that Greenpoint receive a reliable and permanent testing site.

I want to give a big Congratulations to Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design (WHSAD) for receiving the 2020 National Blue Ribbon School Award! WHSAD has been awarded the Blue Ribbon school award because it is an exemplary high performing school, it was also the only high school awarded in New York City! This could not be possible without the great leadership of Principal Cornell and Assistant Principal, Giovanni D'Amato, as well as the hard work and dedication of the students, teachers and staffers. Keep up the good work!
