I came to him in late 2020 to see if he thought I would be a good candidate for NUCCA, as I suffered a hangman's fracture (C2) back in 2013. I've had chronic pain since and had some really bad muscle spasms in my entire neck, but especially in the upper neck where my injury occurred. Prior to seeing Dr. Mike, I wa...s getting radiofrequency ablations every 6 months at the C2, C3, C4, and C5 levels, which had unfortunately stopped working. I was told when I got injured to never go to a chiropractor who would "crack my neck", but the NUCCA technique is extremely gentle on the upper cervical spine and definitely not the traditional "cracking" that you may think of when you think of a chiropractor. While gentle, it's also quite effective. Since I've been seeing Dr. Mike, my head tilt has almost disappeared, and my neck muscles no longer feel like rocks because of constant spasms. I've been able to decrease the amount of muscle relaxers that I was taking. I even had my grandfather remark "Your head is straighter!" While my case is more severe than most and will likely take more time to get in a really good place, I can honestly say that Dr. Mike has helped me and greatly decreased those muscle spasms.
