Repost from @alfredpaintingmfa Grad Spotlight on our first year @isa_artiz ! Also Check out Izzy’s work in Found Family a virtual show organized by @queerly.collective . Recently I have been focusing on the importance objects can hold. I have been holding on to items that my grandparents have given to me with a new purpose of their connection to the spiritual world. Having these items in my spaces creates a direct line to invite them into my world as well as remindin...g me of their presence. This series is one that invites my grandparents into a new chapter of my life and to get to know me as I grow and the people and things I choose to bring in these spaces. . . . . . . . #studioart #artistsoninstagram #artistspotlight #studiopractice #painting #alfredpainting #alfredpaintingmfa #alfreddüsseldorfmfa See more

Join AU’s Winter Book Discussion Group! Small Group Discussions of The Purpose of Power: How We Come Together When We Fall Apart by Alicia Garza @chasinggarza . Participants will receive a copy of the book, discussion questions, and membership in a small discussion group... . Info Meeting: December 14, 202 7pm Meetings: January 4, 11, 18, 2021, 7-8pm sign-up link below . An essential guide to building the type of movements that can address the challenges of our time, from one of the country’s leading organizers one of the creators of Black Lives Matter . Synopsis : Long before #BlackLivesMatter became a rallying cry for this generation, Garza has spent the better part of two decades learning and unlearning some hard lessons about how to come together when things around us are falling apart. The lessons she offers are different from the rules for radicals that animated earlier generations of activists, and diverge from the charismatic, patriarchal model of the American Civil Rights Movement. From this, she offers reflections on how making room amongst the woke for those who are still waking can inspire and activate more and more people to join the fight for the world we all deserve. . This is the story of one woman’s lessons from years of bringing people together to create change. Most of all, it is a new paradigm for change for a new generation of changemakers, from the mind and heart behind one of the most important movements of our time. Hashtags don’t start movements people do. . Generously funded by: The Office of the Provost Alfred University @alfredustudentsenate . Collaborating Organizations include: @alfredforracialjustice Antiracist Action Collective Africana Studies . Sign up: http://ow.ly/ezwh50CJb3Z See more
