The Auburn YMCA-WEIU family has lost two great souls this past week. Retired CEO, Jim Courtney and Retired Branch Executive Director Steve Komanecky. In honor of their years of service to the YMCA, their communities and families, the Auburn YMCA-WEIU will close its doors. These two great men dedicated their lives to service to others. They will be remembered for the light they brought to their work and to everyone around them. They will both be missed in our hearts but th...eir light will continue to burn through all of us and the YMCA. In honor of that light the YMCA will be lit up tonight in order for both of them to find their way back to us. If you would like please share any story you might have about either of them with us by contacting one of our long time staff members or sharing a simple note our social media sites or by dropping a note in the mail. We would love to hear and experience the joy they brought to so many. See more

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Jim Courtney beloved former CEO of the Auburn YMCA. If you knew Jim, you knew him as one of the most positive and loving men you could have known. He was a great leader for our Y and will always be cherished. We did have an opportunity this summer to dedicate our main gymnasium in his name and share that with his family. This was very much appreciated by Jim. We are honored to have this small token of appreciation for the work and spirit he brought to the Y Movement.
