Princess Cruise Lines has been alleged of negligence in a lawsuit filed by Susan Dorety after her husband, Michael Dorety, died upon contracting COVID-19 while boarding the Grand Princess. The lawsuit seeks an excess of $1 million in damages for the death of the deceased. According to Dorety’s attorney, the cruise line knowledgeably exposed the couple to possible risks of dangers when they just disembarked passengers showing COVID-19 symptoms without alerting the new passenge...rs. They have also failed to disclose important information and prevented Susan’s husband from leaving the ship while his health deteriorated. These unlikely events lead to Michael’s unfortunate death alone a few days later in a California hospital. Celebrity cruises crew member Alexandra Nedeltcheva filed suit against her employer upon testing positive for COVID-19 onboard the Celebrity Apex, alleging the Royal Caribbean-owned line’s actions resulted in hundreds of positive COVID-19 cases. Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Celebrity's parent company, responded that the company does not comment on pending litigation. The suit alleges that the line glaringly failed to follow even the most basic safety precautions as state...d in the dates and events in the lawsuit. A student who chose to be identified only as Student A filed a proposed class-action lawsuit against Liberty University. The student alleges that the attendees of the university were placed at severe physical risk of COVID-19 made by their extremely dangerous and irresponsible decisions in comparison to the response of other colleges. Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. was criticized in late March after underestimating the threat of the coronavirus. The school ...was also accused of stifling dissent after Falwell’s reply to a concerned parent’s tweet on March 15. The University’s position is that the case is without legal merit because each of Liberty's changes in operations and modes of delivery was required by governmental officials. Liberty points out that this information was not mentioned in the complaint.
