Huge thanks to Auto Solutions for their recent donation of a High Intensity Ozone Sanitizer machine. It is being used to help us sanitize both our ambulances and our stations so we can protect our patients and our staff. We are grateful to have this tool in our fight against COVID-19!

We are always trying help protect our community and get through this COVID-19 pandemic. Three weeks ago we donated a commercial ozone system to the City of Schenectady Police Department. The Schenectady Police Department is currently using it daily to sanitize their patrol vehicles and have extended their decontamination setup/facility county-wide to all police and first responder agencies.... Any town, city, police, fire department, EMS, or public health agency can contact the police department to schedule use if you have a need. If you’d like to have this available at your facility, we have additional systems available for pick up. Please contact us if you have any questions. 518-377-5555 Our facility is currently taking all safety precautions to insure the safety of our employees and customers. We are now operating 7 days a week to insure expedited service for all emergency, utility & fleet vehicles. We hope everyone stays safe and healthy.

Quantico Va, 14 September 2019 The US Marine Corps and the Marines Toys for Tots Foundation have officially announced that the Albany NY - Capital Region Toys... for Tots Campaign has been selected as the 2018 US Marine Corps Toys for Tots National Campaign of the Year, in addition the two Marines assigned as Coordinators have also been selected as the National Marine LCO Coordinators of the year. They are being awarded the Department of the Navy Public Service Medal, which is the second highest award that can be given by the Secretary of the Navy for outstanding service to the American people outside of combat. This selection does not come lightly or easily, as there are over 800 Toys for Tots Campaigns conducted throughout the United States and it’s Territories each year. The Capital Region Campaign is responsible for over 14 Counties and just in the last year (2018) provided over 161,000 children in the Capital Region alone with over 250,000 toys. When asked how they do it, US Marine GySgt Vinny Roman (Gunny) said the he and the other Marine Coordinator Patrick Lurenz are not actually the ones who deserve the credit or recognition for the campaigns success, (although that’s what this past weekend was all about) he says that it is the incredible team of 100% volunteers that make the real magic happen. He goes on to say its volunteers like Alison Neary the Warehouse Chief, who spends countless hours ensuring the massive warehouse and thousands of volunteers are safely completing the massive job of sorting, categorizing and bagging the toys for distribution. Shelby Hansen the Events Coordinator who sets up and manages the 100’s of public events and many uniformed military members that attend them. We are also supported by the many Marines and Sailers of the O’Brien Detachment Marine Corps League that are led by Commandant and Purple Heart Vietnam Combat veteran Joseph Pollicino, and his personal assistant and body guard Billy Nardolillo, who was a Marine Corps boxer and local legend with a family of 5 brothers who are all US Marines. Joe and his detachment along with a number of others including Tim Forbes out of the Troy Detachment Marine Corps League are actually the tip of the spear that provides the logistical and labor help needed to complete both the drop off’s of boxes and then the pick up of toys that are in the thousands of locations throughout our huge campaign. The Capital Region Toys for Tots Campaign is easily one of the largest in the entire US Marine Corps, and the logistics and planning that go into its execution are staggering and immense. This logistical task falls to Patrick Lurenz, who manages most of the day to day operations and community network that allow the program to function. Much of the major fundraising and strategic planning are now handled together by both Coordinators and it’s noted that each have their own unique style and approach, and will approach the task and donors in a way that ensures a successful and positive outcome. Vinny Roman while stationed as the I&I Operations Chief for F Co 2/25 4th Marine Division in Glenville NY was one of the last Active Duty Coordinators at the unit before the Marines closed that unit as the war in Afghanistan wound down, and he has a unique and huge amount of experience running the campaign, the two Marines have formed an amazing bond and unique life long friendship that started through the brotherhood they share as US Marines. They have found massive success by pushing forward through the many obstacles they have faced and moving the program to be larger and more effective each year. With over 10 years now of experience in managing the campaign together they say they wil both continue to step up to the challenge and will never give up. One of their most noteworthy highlights and accomplishments according to Lurenz is how they were able to save the annual Toys for Tots Distribution Train last year after Amtrak decided to no longer support the annual train mission after 19 years because of a new corporate policy. The two Marines immediately went to work and used their many resources and vast networks to solve the problem. With help from both the private and public sector, millionaire supporters and Congressmen and Congresswomen, they found an amazing man and supporter who owned his own railroad and train, and through him and many others were able to get one day of the train mission completed. Patrick Lurenz also states that one of his largest and proudest accomplishments is the new unique and growing partnership they now have with the local Emergency Services, this relationship started when (then) newly elected Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo reached out to him and was interested in a partnership to complete a Emergency Services Convoy for Kids by conducting a short convoy of emergency vehicles that were filled with toys that they had collected and would turn over at the end to donate. This single event has grown from small or negligible numbers at the beginning, to the staggering and record breaking number of over 60,000 toys donated in just the last year alone by the Emergency Service (police, fire, EMS) agencies that Sheriff Zurlo leads in Saratoga County. Lurenz says the Director of Emergency Communications Steven Gordon has been the Sheriffs go to guy to get all the planning and logistics completed for both the Sherriff’s Convoy for Kids and the newly formed Northern NY Sheriffs Coalition Convoy of Hope that was created and necessary after loosing one of the two days of the Distribution Train. Roman says that without all these many incredible partners, family and friends, we could never complete this important mission, and all Pat and I really do is drive the bus, and help guide the amazing process and volunteers to the right mission address. Roman says that although both Pat and I come from a very humble beginning as young inexperienced grunts (Infantry Marines), we have taken the training, education and experience we’ve learned in the Marine Corps and applied the never quit and never give up attitude that comes from being a Marine and continued to be part of something that’s so much larger than us. They both want to thank their families who have loved and supported them in their passion, as well as the many supporters, donors and community that they serve. It’s been one of the greatest honors of our lives to be allowed to continue our service to this great Nation as Marines and Coordinators, and show our family and specifically our sons what real service and loyalty are. Please help to continue to support the Capital Region Toys for Tots and their incredible mission of Hope by providing the hope and joy to children that comes through a new toy during the holidays.
