A quote from Jacques Derrida: "Still today, I cannot cross the threshold of a teaching institution without physical symptoms, in my chest and my stomach, of discomfort or anxiety. And yet I have never left school." Wishing the weekend spilled into today? You're not the only one in whom school instills a sense of dread. Derrida longed for the weekend too, and yet he went on to publish over forty books as a lifelong scholar and university professor. So, keep on keeping on. You never know.

As as we celebrate the birth date of feminist and New York native Elizabeth Cady Stanton, born in Johnstown (1815), Tuesday's tip is to remain steadfast and resilient in the face of adversity in pursuit of your dreams and aspirations; contribute, too, what writing you can to the unfolding narrative of your historical moment! Stanton said: "The moment we begin to fear the opinions of others and hesitate to tell the truth that is in us, and from motives of policy are silent when we should speak, the divine floods of light and life no longer flow into our souls." http://writersalmanac.publicradio.org/index.php
Overwhelmed is the installment for this week's "Word Wednesday" as 35 first-year students packed the Writing Center's Earle Hall location for a book discussion of Katherine Boo's *Behind the Beautiful Forevers*!
