Continuing on the topic of employee access .... Does your employee use their work or personal email for work related tasks? While most are using "@mycompany.com", we sill see people using gmail, yahoo or even aol email addresses for work.... What is the big deal? If the employee leaves, you loose all the email correspondence along with the employees departure. If customers or prospects email the personal email after they leave, your marketing funds/time may have gone to waste or the sale could go to the employee's new employer! As a side note - are you weary of doing business with someone if they use a personal email as opposed to a business account? #avemcomp

Do your employees have administrative rights to their computer? In case you may ask, "what's the difference", here are some items to ponder - If they have admin rights ... - They can install programs that may infect your network.... - They can install a virus accidentally. - They can lock you out of the computer (if not on a domain) What are some things you were surprised to see installed or uninstalled when someone had admin rights? #avemcomp

Do employees connect from home? Which software or program are they using? Not all programs are created equally! Some allow the employee to control the access, while others are controlled by the employer.... Which type do they use in your office? What's a key difference? If the employee no longer works at your company - if they would still have access to your network. How can you check if your unsure? Check the list of programs on the computer. #avemcomp

With Covid-19, many more people were working from home. While many of them have returned to the office, they still retain access to connect from home. What if a family member were to access the computer and (accidentally) start causing havoc by connecting into the office PC?... Perhaps it's time to reconsider who should have access from home? #avemcomp

How do you avoid getting scammed by a phishing email? Training. Quality training to teach users to spot and stop phishing attacks is the biggest boost that any company can add to its cybersecurity defenses. Remote workers are especially vulnerable to phishing threats. By training users to react correctly to the different tricks that bad actors use in phishing attempts and by keeping that training up to date, companies build the strongest possible defense against phishing a... well-trained staff.
