The Capital Project referendum is open to voting until 9:00 p.m. tonight. For this vote, District officials must count ballots by hand as machine counting is unavailable. Due to the length of time the process will take, the official count will begin tomorrow morning. We will announce the results of the vote as soon as they are available. Thank you all for taking the time to vote on the two propositions.

As indicated in our school reopening plan, families can elect to have their students in grades K-5 transition from virtual learning to in-person instruction or from in-person instruction to virtual learning at the end of the first trimester. Please note that Tuesday, November 3 will be a day of student attendance for the Averill Park CSD. This day was originally scheduled as a Superintendent's Conference Day. The calendar was revised at the July 28, 2020 Board of Education meeting and the Conference Day was moved to the beginning of September to allow the District additional time to prepare for the 2020-21 school year and finalize reopening plans.
AMS students were challenged to donate 400 canned food items to support the Sand Lake Kiwanis and they stepped up and blew the mark away, collecting more than 1,000 items! As a result, students will be rewarded with being able to wear Halloween costumes to school on Thursday or Friday this week. Students in Mrs. Deo's 4th grade class at Miller Hill-Sand Lake Elementary School welcomed Mrs. Cahill to their class to teach them some beginning sign language. Students learned how to finger spell their names, how to sign happy birthday, and had a ton of fun learning many Halloween signs, too. We are already looking forward to our next lesson! #AP_EveryStudentEveryDay
REMINDER: The Red Cross needs your help! On Thursday, October 29 the American Red Cross will be coming to Averill Park High school to host a blood drive. The blood drive will be from 8 AM to 12:30 PM. It's now more important than ever to donate blood, because you can make a difference! You must be 16 or older to give blood.
